tdbostick
Using an old character, I'd consistently get CTDs when entering Understone, Blue Palace, or the DB Sanctuary. I don't have any mods that edit these areas in any way. I have one mod that makes nicer indoor textures for Vlindrel hall (and hence all Dwemer interiors), but it's just a texture mod I've had for ages that has never messed anything up before. I recently started a new game and didn't have this problem for a long time, but the Understone crash has recently resurfaced. It's made updating my home in Markarth impossible, because Raerek only sells upgrades when he's in the keep. I can 'moveto player' him to me, but he'll not offer upgrades. I tried sleeping for 31 days to let everything reset, but even that didn't work. My savegame files are around 8 MB each, so even they aren't that big yet. I have a 64 bit system, so it's not a memory issue. I suspect it's a house/dungeon mod that's doing it, but none of them affects Understone, as far as I can tell. I've been deleting as many of them I don't use as possible in order to rectify this, but it usually makes no difference. I have the Stormcloak hideout, Dovahkiin fortress, Ranger Ridge, Deus Mons, Orlong's Hearth (tried removing this one, got massive CTDs constantly until I REINSTALLED it), and one that adds a common wardrobe room Dovahkiin hideout-style to all the houses in Skyrim (kinda attached to that one, actually). I used to have the Dovahkiin hideout, but it was causing some trainers to stop training me, so I had to let it go. There may be one or two other house mods, I can't remember. I also have ones that change a few things to every standard house except Honeyside. The change to Vlindrel Hall, however, Dragonborn Edition, has been with my game for ages and has never caused problems before (it's a very simpe addition of an anvil, workbench, and grind stone). None of this touches the town's keep, though. If there's any advice beyond "try uninstalling each mod you have one at a time" out there, it'd be greatly appreciated. I currently have too many mods to make that trial-and-error method worth the effort. If one particular mod is the problem, I'd rather try to go in and fix the mod with the CK first, especially if it's a mod I'm rather fond of. I do trial-and-error some mods from time to time, but nothing suspicious has changed this problem. I fear it's some obscure mod that shouldn't be a problem at all that's doing this.
