I am coming back to skyrim and i was wondering what char would be good to make since i am starting over?

well , that really depends on what kind of player you are , and what kind of mods you are going for

personally , I plan on going back to Skyrim to try a full on magic build , as I need something different to the usual archer character I run

but that kind of run won't be for everybody , and really depends on how much you like the combat system of the game , and again which mods you wish to use (if you are going for full on combat overhauls , you may prefer going with a melee character for example)

if you can describe your suggested mod build , I'm sure we would be able to suggest something you might like

I have been involved with the game on and off since about 8 months after its initial release and have always loved the game far more than any negative reaction. I keep Steam in offline mode 98% of the time so I cannot really say how much I've actually played but I did keep track "manually for the first year or so and I stopped counting when I got to ~1500 hours. I may have doubled the total hours by this point, but given I've played it less and less over the years maybe only ~2000 ish.

 

Despite this much engagement with the game, I cannot think of a single major quest arc that I have ever finished. I have finished many minor ones, and gotten close to completion on a few of the major arcs, particularly Thieves Guild, Main Quest, the Dwarven Cities thing and College. The game was always so beautiful, so beguiling, and engrossing, I could spend hours just wandering around, talking to NPCs, hunting, exploring the game world and the game mechanics and clearing small locations.

 

One of these days though I WILL finish MQ!

 

I presently have two ongoing playthroughs: one being my most common character archetype, a sort of Archer/Ranger/Alchemist/Magical-Dabbler/Thief who has made it a fair ways into the Thieves Guild quests. This must be the 5th time I've gotten pretty far into TG quest line, but I long ago became afflicted with the "Dead is Dead" neurosis when it comes to Bethsoft's first-person action and rpg games and I just cannot keep playing a toon once it has died. So I have repeated the vanilla beginning probably in the ballpark of 100 times, and I've done many of the alternate starts in the mod multiple times each as well. My favorite alternate start at this point is to start as the childhood friend of Erik the Slayer, but starting as a member of Dawnguard Guild or as a patron of an inn in Solitude can be fun too. About the only Alt Start I do not recommend is the ship wreck and the member of the college. This is primarily because of my insistence on environmental and "needs" immersion mods (Frostfall, Wet and Cold, Realistic Needs). A level 1 toon at the College with hardcore environment (and even WITH the Immersive College mod) is sufficiently harsh as to border on unfun.

 

I'll paste my mod list, if that might be of any use. This list is the result of many hundreds of hours of start-stop game play and mod installing/bashing/troubleshooting and the actual list of "candidate" mods from which this set of ~105 was drawn was probably more like 400 mods. The focus is on immersion, and increased functionalities and play options for various character types.
