AMD CCC 12.4 is bugged

Just letting you folks know... 12.4 doesn't install 12.4, it installs the original drivers for your graphics card. AMD will need to pull it and sort the issue out.

Your saying 12.4 is 11.3? Where did you get this info from?

After seeing this post I checked my original disk and all the drivers I have backed up and not only is there a number of differences from 11.3 to 12.4, a number of previous problems seem not to be present any more. Since installing 12.4 my card has been running quite a bit better than even 12.1 (I never installed 12.2 or 12.3 due to the pixel and AA problems).

Post a link to where ever you got this information from.

Pls excuse the slight hijack but, wow, that's good info. With everything I've been reading about 12.2 and 12.3 I've been hanging tough with 12.1 and have been extremely reluctant to upgrade until I knew it was safe.

I got that bit of info from the AMD forums. Mine is still showing as 12.3 even though I used the 12.4 software and even ran Driver Sweeper. Additionally my FPS has dropped considerably... my CCC is for Win 7 64 bit and the HD 7970 series. What is yours?

I'm using CCC 12.4 and it works great, I was getting micro-stuttering from 12.1, and 12.2 and 12.3 had those pixelation issues, Using Skyrim patch 1.4.21, with a HD 6870 1gb.

EDIT: 12.4 has driver ver. 8.961.0.0 and it does have CAP 12.3

But you see, the problems in 12.3 regarding pixelation did not exist for the HD 7xxx series. I know they did for the HD 5xxx series as I had those cards myself and the bug in that particular driver was unbearable. But 12.4 for the HD7xxx just isn't playing right. I am getting as low as 5fps and even the Bethesda logo screen is having stuttering :D

I am going back to the proper 12.3 obviously and there are people complaining about the version mess up for other cards, on the AMD forum.

It really depends on what series cards your using with what ver. of CCC, some people that used 12.3, said if they uninstalled Cap for 12.3, that it worked good for them, again that has probably got a lot to do with what card they are using.

Yeah it would appear that way, I tried reinatlling 12.3 which redownloaded from AMD website and a message says it is missing key components, so I will reinstall 12.4 then unistall it without using driver sweeper ... as that should leave pretty mucyh everything on the computer including components because AMD never created a decent uninstaller lol. I suppose 12.3 would work if I installed after that.

and I turned off system restore only a month ago haha

I'm running Vista 32 bit and a HD 6970 2Gb. Have Skyrim at the last update. Video is Ultra (was on High on 12.1). I'm seeing the same as fms1 posted for driver, etc. on 12.4.

Since updating to 12.4 the slight stutter I was getting from time to time doesn't happen anymore. My FOV is 85 which played some havoc on 12.1 at the screen edges, nice and clear now. I had places where video artifacts would appear infrequently, especially where lots of NPCs were present (I have a couple of mods that add NPCs to the game), but that has not occurred since 12.4. I'm getting a pretty consistent 45-50 FPS now except for in Whiterun where it drops to 31 and then eventually stabilizes at 35. But I don't think the FPS drop is the card at fault. I even uninstalled textures I had installed as the game is very crisp and clear now without any texture enhancement and actually looks better without them (less foggy/misty looking).

i have had a bit of a fps drop with 12.4, and a bit LOT of instability... i'm using a sapphire HD 6850, win7 64bit. i run my visuals at above high, less than ultra... i call it very high. the battle for solitude caused my game to crash every 3-5 minutes. that hasn't happened since... i can't even recall skyrim's build at the time. lol
