SSE (Presumably) simple color change request

Hey guys and gals. I am in way over my head even trying to learn how to do this. When I asked for tips on how to do it myself people started speaking in tongues. Talking about dds's and gimps and all kinds of oddities.

I just want a simple change in color to the merchants hat. A standalone grey merchants hat so I can wear it with the Wayfarer's outfit.

I love the outfit mod. It's fantastic with my sorta "explorers guild" dungeon delving theme. But he looks a little ridiculous running around snow capped mountains without a hat on. And the regular merchants hat is the wrong color. So I am trying to secure a grey merchants hat. Maybe with some darker fur trim?

Anyone out there that can hook a dude up?

I downloaded the Wayfarer coat and took a shot at making the hat close to it. It's not totally gray, so I didn't fully desaturate the hat. It's kind of a dark gray/brown now. Working with texture sets is new to me, so let me know if there are any problems. There's a standalone, craftable, and a texture replacer, in the same archive. If you want simple, but to change every merchant hat in the game, use the replacer. Otherwise, use the .esp and .bsa instead.

Thanks for taking the time. I tried to do it myself and was clearly in over my head.

Glad to hear it worked for you. I was trying to eyeball it, with the wanderer texture open in one window and the hat in the other, but with that big a difference in size, I wasn't sure how close I got. Ty for the kind compliment.
