SerchBoogie
Hi. I released a mod last year for Old Skyrim. By the time I started creating it, Skyrim SE didn't exist, it was announced in the final stages of my Mod creation. Unfortunately I couldn't get the free update to SE because I only bought vanilla Skyrim to create my Mod, I was curious about modding, I already had the complete version on PS3, how could I know? I want to create a new mod but I wonder if Old Skyrim is still worth modding?, has everyone migrated to SE already?, I still see some action in the Nexus page for Old Skyrim, I just wanted to ask around, see what people think. When I released my other mod SE was too new, few support, no SKSE you know... The thing is I don't own SE and it's a bit expensive on Steam now, I mean not expensive but I've bought this f"!#ing game too many times, I think it's enough, I will buy it but only during one of those crazy steam deals for like 10 dollars or so. I hope you guys can help me with some insight. Thank you. PS: I know I can port my Mod to SE but the process looks like a hassle, like if developing a mod for Skyrim wasn't annoying enough. WastelandAssassin
if you want to create a mod , why not just do it?are you doing this for anyone other than yourself? because if that is the case , maybe you shouldn't mod at all (it's meant to be done like a hobby , you shouldn't do it if you don't enjoy it)and yeah , there are still people playing and modding Oldrimsome people prefer it to SE , especially due to how many mods weren't yet converted to SE , so there are far more options on Oldrim right now
RGMage2
I've got free SE in my Steam account and haven't even bothered to download it. I still have an LE installation on my laptop and when I eventually play Skyrim again it will be LE (oldrim). I don't see any issue with releasing a mod for LE. Mod the game you play, that's what makes sense to me. But if your oldrim mod turns out to be popular, then be prepared to be hounded by people wanting it ported to SE. Deleted23213994User
It is if you don't care about jumping on the bandwagon of 'but muh 64bit'. I would finish your mod(s) at least if you've made promises about it before you turn your back like modders have done when they hopped on the wagon and gave their middle finger to a large portion of their core fans on classic Skyrim to appeal to the other side. Then again it's up to you.
RichWebster
More detailed environments don't run well in original Skyrim. My hunting settlements drop to 50 FPS at some angles due to the clutter and detail I've added. Whereas SE sticks to a smooth 60 all the time. I continue to develop in Skyrim due in part to the fact that the SE creation kit crashes A LOT. Then for each update I just convert the mod to SE. So I'm supporting both versions. TeofaTsavo
I really appreciate those modders who have not abandoned LE. My current comp runs LE just fine with 142 plugins and a lot of non-esp mods. It won't even load SE. It will take a lot more than a halfhearted, original bugs included "remake" of LE to make me buy a new comp. Plus I really do not want the forced "Creation Club" malware loaded without permission. I don't foresee ever running SE, even with a new comp. Edited May 24, 2018 by TeofaTsavo
