Belivex Mod List doesn't look anywhere as advertised.

Recommended Posts

Hey Lads,

i lately tried to get my TES Oblivion shine with Bevilex Mod list. I truly appreciate all the effort he put in this mod list and i would really love to get to the same results as him, or the others who succeeded.
Unfortunately, my game looks like this instead:

33401099_1711607082210581_77164241734042

I really hope you can help me get this game as pretty and awesome as it should look like. I will admit: I have no idea about applying Mods to Bethesda-Games and just followed the tutorials as good as i could.

Hard to say, because everyone perceives things a bit differently.

However, in my opinion, a lot of the pop that you see in the screencaps and videos online is due to two things:

1. Graphics overhauls, like Oblivion Reloaded, that enhance light, shadow, and HDR (high dynamic range - a large range of color and brightness levels in the same image).

2. LOD (level of detail) for distant terrain - do distant objects retain most of their detail?

Looking at your screen, I don't see either high dynamic range or good LOD. The scene seems very flat and static and your distant hills look bare where they should have trees and grass.

I don't recall that Bevilex's walkthrough had any steps involving LOD, but they did have somewhat extensive configuration of ENB and Oblivion Reloaded, so I'd start off looking at that.

I actually think his guide is a little backwards; in my opinion you should take care of ENB and OR first, get them working, and then only after they work to your satisfaction, start installing everything else, because without good dynamic range, even the most detailed textures are going to look flat. His end results are pretty good, though.

I can't seem to post images directly here like you can (it says "extension not allowed", but I'm posting JPG images), but here's an imgur link to four screenshots I just took. I'm in the middle of Bevilex's guide, but I've only installed the unofficial patches and DarkUI'd Darn with ENB/OR - no texture replacers at all.

First was taken from the back of the prison cell at the beginning of the game. Second was taken immediately after by issuing the command "coc weye" at the console and moving to the corner of the shack. Third and fourth shots were taken just outside of that shack (fourth one temporally displaced by an 8-hour wait). Take a set of your own and post them for comparison if you like.

A lot of the effects that ENB/OR generate are very particular about the configuration of your graphics card. If you're using a pretty old card (like more than the 3 years old that my card is) or if you've configured it via the NVidia/Radeon control panel to not allow the application to adjust its settings, ENB/OR is going to be pretty limited in what it can do.

Hope this helps.

Enjoy the process of molding the game to your liking. I actually wonder if I don't enjoy that more than actually playing the game itself.

@Tat45: You shouldn't attach images to your posts directly for two reasons: 1) There's a size limit to the individual file to be attached, and 2) there's also a size limit to the total size of attachments you ever uploaded so far.

The usual way of getting images into your posts is by use of the "img" BBCode tag and uploading them to an off-site picture host instead.

And if you already tried the latter and ran into the error message you mentioned, then it was due to you not entering the actual image URL, but only the URL of the "webpage" where your image is shown on the host. If the URL doesn't end on a valid image file extension, then it won't be allowed. There's different ways to get to the direct image URL on different hosts, and I don't happen to know how it's done on imgur, so I sadly can't help further with that.

For what it's worth though, I myself am also using the mod list from Bevilex currently, or better yet I installed all mods from it, which I found useful to my play style, then added some more from other sources later on.

But I can't really use most of Oblivion Reloaded's fancy shader effects, as I'm running Windows in a Virtual Machine, and my simulated graphics card is not recognized correctly by OR. And also I'm not a fan of ENBs, so I'm not using any either apart from ENBoost.

You should, however, make absolute sure every single step of the guide is followed correctly, including fine-tuned INI settings for everything and presets for OR, don't forget the importance of a functioning Archive Invalidation, when on Steam make absolute sure the BSA's dates are also fixed and not as recent as they are by default, which is way more recent than any replacer mod ever to be, and thus even Archive Invalidation will be useless while that is the case, make sure the game is using the highest texture settings, not anywhere near medium or lower, and all graphics options inside the game have to be configured exactly the way the guide or OR demand.

And still, the results will vary from user to user, if not at last due to different people having different tastes and thus choosing different solutions where multiple options are provided.
