sorceress99
Whenever I open Oblivion using OBSE, I get an error messgae stating "..application failed to start because d3dx9_41.dll was not found" but Oblivion loads after clicking "okay". When I load OB using the launcher, no error message. Anyone know what app uses this file?? It's a sound file I think. I've looked in all my obse pluggy's for the file but none use it that I can see. DrakeTheDragon
It's a DLL, a dynamic link library, this one's from Direct3D, the renderer part of the DirectX framework.Sounds to me like OBGE, Oblivion Graphics Extender, is missing it here. This one also only works with OBSE active, so it doesn't complain without OBSE.I don't know from which package exactly it's coming, but reinstalling the DirectX distributable package or something might fix it and never hurts. It's obtainable via Windows Downloads, as it's part (or extension rather) of the operating system more or less.

No more missing file error. Thanks Drake. I have no idea why it disappeared. The error message just popped up as I was playing with OBSE.
DrakeTheDragon
Could be it was never there in the first place and had to be installed first. Not all systems have the whole DX redistributable package preinstalled, especially not DX9 when it's a DX10 or 11 graphics card or something.Whatever it was, now it's fixed. That's all that counts.
