Can no longer create Lip. files

So when I try to generate a lip. file it simply doesn't do it, I have the skyrim file I need for it to work, it just seems to have stopped working. The voice lines play ingame so the Wav's function but it won't create lip. files.

The implication is that it was previously working in FNV? If so, you need to look for something that changed, such as a Window system update resetting folder permissions.

 

OTOH, if you mean you have previously used the Lip generator under Skyrim but it doesn't seem to work with FNV, suggest you look at the 'Tip: Cutting Lip files to match dialog' under the "Dialogue & Lip-synch" section of the wiki "Getting started creating mods using GECK" article. There are a couple of tutorials, and an alternative generator linked there as well.

I have used it before in New Vegas, less than a week ago, but it just simply ceased to function, I have the option to create the lip file but when selected nothing occurs.

Hmm. Certainly points to a recent change. Given the Lip generator is a separate program, it's possible it's been affected by some of the recent system updates to mitigate the "Spectre and Meltdown" vulnerabilities that are getting slip-streamed in. But I would have expected there to be some Windows Eventlog messages if that was the case.

 

Afraid I failed to find anything about that specific problem. You might try reverting to the "system restore" point created when your system last updated and see if the problem goes away.

 

I would be interested to hear of any solution you find.

Since you had it to work before, but not now.. Have you tried to rename an old .wav file (that worked) add a new topic and tried to re-run .lip creation with that file?

It's just to nail down where the process fails. If I recall (years since I did it) there are a lot of settings for the .wav file that is mandatory for .lip files to be created, maybe an update for your audio tools changed how they save .wav files?

 

Another thing could be, like Dubious mention regarding updates, that the Windows OS not allow access to needed resources anymore (there have been a lot of changes lately) and you need to run this as Administrator?

 

And I'm also interested if you get this sorted out what the solution was.
