Moved Game to new Drive, and uh, this happened.

Like I said, I moved my game from my C drive to my D drive (I didn't know the difference when I set up fo4, and very quickly ran out of room). I fiddled around with it, as the NMM was giving me a hard time with the update demanding itself, and then freezing halfway and forcing me to quit.

I'm not great with PC's, followed what I could wtih online guides and troubleshooting, but was quickly in over my head and *sigh* took it to GeekSquad (i know, i know...). The guy there fixed it up for me (I couldn't even get NMM to reinstall, something about NMM mod needing to be in the same drive as core/root game, which it WAS), but now it does this.

I know enough to know its missing the skins/meshes, but I didn't' have any trouble with it before the move to a new drive, so... I'm lost.

Anyone got any advice?

TL;DR: I moved drives, and now I"m missing skins/meshes. What do?

you might have to uninstall your mods, and reinstall them. NMM dose have issues at times.

@bill8872 Due to the nature of the failed NMM update, my mods have been deactivated/uninstalled multiple times (I assume when mods are greyed out in NMM they are uninstalled).

Would I have to delete them off NMM, and mod folder, and reinstall totally?

Thanks for responding.

if grayed out they are uninstalled.

It might be possable you have to delete them and re-download them, but I don't think so. NMM can be a pain with mods at times.

Do you have the latest version of NMM? It also might be the paths are not correct in NMM.

Suggestions:

1. If you check the settings of NMM, you'll see three directory listings: A. Where NMM put your downloaded mods, B. Where the mods with installers put the resulting choices files (the info of all the choices is in part held by the mod structure in the archive and a main file that gives all the options), and C. Where Fallout 4 is on your system. From this you can find where all your mods are and copy them elsewhere to make sure you don't lose something. Once you have things where you want, you will need to let NMM know what's what. You will want to get the latest version of NMM on Github (there is a link to an installer in a form post around here somewhere).

2. On the mesh front, check your mod archives. If there is a ba2 file in there (ex. Mod name.ba2), NMM is known for losing track of the various virtual links with ba2 files, so the quick fix is to copy those files to the Fallout 4 Data directory (ex. D:\Steam Games\Common Apps\Fallout 4\Data\).

3. If you noted the path example above, I did that through giving Steam an alternate location to place the games (again the Internet is your friend for this one). Once you have that directory made, use the Internet instructions to let Steam know about it, and yes, you can have more than two.

4. If all has gone well at this point, check on the game and do make sure the mods are working. Make sure the moods are up to date (start with F4SE, and the easy way is clear out the F4SE files in Fallout 4, but leave the F4SE folder in the data directory alone. Once that's done, grab the F4SE installer from their page and install it like you normally would).

Hopefully all of this helps.

Is this the update you were talking about?

I did find a lot of ba2 files, but most were gibberish.

An interesting thing I noticed is that the texture/mesh files I checking in my steamapps/common/Fallout 4/ Data files were empty, but my Virtual Install files in my NMM had them. Is this important?

Yes that is the most up to date NMM version.

BA2 files can be that way.

empty data folders is a bad thing. The Virtual install is how NMM keeps track of what mods are installed. When you reinstall then just hit yes, when it asks you to.

I installed it and now my game just crashes while its loading.

EDIT: I feel I should also mention that it seems that its only textures thats missing. For example, I had Sim Settlements installed, and my vanilla settler was tending to her weapons stall (a few feet in the air, where the shop put her) I could interact with her just fine, I just couldn't see the shop itself.
