neok182 Posted May 7, 2012 Share Posted May 7, 2012 (edited) *edit* now i'm getting crashes in other areas too. but again same thing, uncheck all mods, works. the game is just instantly CTDing, no errors or anything. very similar to my memory issues, but it's ONLY when i'm in the reach. now i thought that this was because of the monster mod that i had just installed, uninstalled, no fix. then i thought it was because of the apocalypse spells mod, uninstalled, no fix. now i'm at a loss, i have no idea how i've avoided the entire reach for this playthrough but i guess i have, now i can't go anywhere west of riften or east of ivarstead without the game crashing. sometimes if i fast travel directly to a location itl'l work, but if i try going through. Forevermuffins Posted May 7, 2012 Share Posted May 7, 2012 (edited) Few things. 1. The Reach and a few other places are very intensive, they will tax a system more than other places. 2. Having that many mods will lead to CTDs very fast. 3. Likely candidates are mods that add or edit locations or scripted events in locations. The more you rip out, the more stable the game is. 3a. Check Riverwood, is it there? 3b. Check Helgen, is it there? 3c. Check Breezehome, can you go in without CTD? 4. Your game may need a restart, how big is your save? If it above 10mb your save is barely salvageable, above 15mb, you probably can't do much to save your system. 4a. Try waiting 30 days in an interior cell, see what that does. neok182 Posted May 7, 2012 Author Share Posted May 7, 2012 1) i was having CTD's due to memory issues, but i did a hack and the game was fine. ran it for 6+ hours a couple weeks ago when before it i played for 15 minutes, got purple textuers and a CTD. and these issues seem to be always happening in the wilderness when walking, not in a town, and always in the same spots, and when i uncheck all my mods, works just fine. 2) yeah i know, but up until the last week i wasn't having any issues, at least i assume i wasn't. i wasn't going to the places where i'm having issues now. 3) don't think i have any of those. did you notice any? 3a-riverwood is fine. was there last night and when i tired walking north, crash. but stayed in riverwood for a while and fought a dragon with no issues. 3b- yes. didn't restart to check, but i just fast traveled, unlocked the gate and while attacking a bandit it crashed. 3c- no. able to go in, walk around, no issues here. 4) currently almost 9MB. really don't want to restart just yet. And as i mentioned, if i uncheck all the mods, no crash. so i don't think thats the issue. 4a- i'll give it a shot. though considering it's fixed just from simply removing a mod i don't think thats it. hence why i posted the list. hoping that someone could see and recognize the mod thats causing it so i don't have to go one by one through the entire list. Another thing to check is ENB, if you have it running SSAO, abandon it, your comp can run it out of program for Ambient occlusion or be made to. I find it very strange that houses seem to cause so many issues in skyrim. I had like 5 house mods in Fallout 3 and never seemed to have any issues. In Oblivion i had like 4-5 as well, in addition to the TARDIS (which skyrim needs ASAP). thank you for your help, honestly those would have been the last mods i checked. i really am curious though, why do house mods cause so many issues? givvvver Posted December 27, 2012 Share Posted December 27, 2012 My problem was, when travelling to The Reach from every direction it would CTD. Turns out Sundracon Male body mod comes with forsworn boot meshes and by deleting these, the forsworn NPCs feet look funny but totaly fixed my problem. Hope this helps some people.
