Breeze74a
In Fallout: NV damage resistance has been replaced by damage threshold, with the exception of a few items (Slasher, med-x, rebreather). However radiation is still just resisted, rather than blocked. This wouldn't be a problem if this resistance went up to 100%, but it doesn't it has been capped at 85%. It would make far more sense for items to be rated with a radiation threshold so if for example you were in an area with 2 rads or radiation and you had 2 rad radiation threshold you would not pick up any radiation, no matter how long you stayed there. This would also allow a more realistic reaction of NPC's to radiation as well. If you wanted to go into a more complicated mod you could have internal and external radiation sources treated differently. Internal radiation (food + drink) would be treated by drugs, external radiation might be treated by drugs and a chemical scrub/shower.
Ruadhan2300
I'd love to see this, but I can't see how it'd be implemented into the game. Damage resistance vs Damage Threshold is coded quite firmly into the game, rather than being anything we could mod in the geck. That said, it would be utterly awesome.... I can think of one way to do it though...create an effect which runs a script to retrieve the radiation level of the area around you, then run a continous function to remove radiation at the same rate for as long as you're in the irradiated zone. the rate at which it removes radiation being limited to whatever your "Radiation Threshold" on the outfit is. Result: if you're in a rad field of 2+, then the armor (with a threshold of 5) would remove at a rate of 2-. While if you're in a field of Rads at 6+ and your threshold is still 5, then you only remove at 5-. so net gain is 1+ Rads per second. That'd work, its major problem is that if you have more than one armor item which uses this technique, then you'd be recieving cumulative benefits, so you'd actually drain rads in irradiated areas....which makes no sense.Countered by using only outfits which can't be worn with other items. say for example, as a benefit of wearing both power armor and a power helmet, Or by wearing a Radiation suit in good enough condition...all kinds of stuff could be done this way :) I've been messing with radiation stuff quite a lot for Vault 105, so I'm fully aware of how Radiation works in Fallout :P
