Klinkle Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Alright well I lost my copy of Oblivion recently and had uninstalled it from my computer. I recently decided to buy one, but I couldn't seem to find a copy in any stores. So I thought about buying it on Steam, but I don't really like how it launches on steam. I decided to download it using Gamestop's app. I got the GOTY edition, but it installed it all at once and didn't give me a choice to install SI/KotN. It works just fine until I need OBSE... I get the error "You have an unknown version of Oblivion" I've made sure I have the latest patch and every other topic I found on this said to install Oblivion, SI, and KotN at different times...I suppose I could do without obse but I really enjoy all the mods that require it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
HeyYou Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Probably an encrypted executable, so, OBSE won't work with it..... Check the version of the Oblivion.exe in the install folder, and see what it has to say.
HeyYou Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 That's the correct version. But, being as you have a downloaded version, I am going to guess that you are running into the same problem as the direct2drive folks did, encrypted exe file. OBSE won't work with it.

So how would you use it.....Install another one and delete the old one?
