Messed up quest

Hey everyone,

I recently reinstalled Oblivion to manage my mods better (using OBMM) and everything worked out great. I reimported my save game file and even the glowing eyes I had from Beautiful People worked just fine.

There's only one problem and I hope you guys can help me.

The quest "Drunk and Disorderly" was a quest I had in my list before I reinstalled and remodded Oblivion. I had no problems with it then.

After the reinstall, the quest wasn't in my list. I decided to pick it up again, but the quest giver asked me "How it went", as if I already had the quest.

So instead, I decided to check out Leyawiin, where the members of the Fighters Guild were present and the bartender even "said" (literally, spoken) that I had to get rid of them, but when I opened the conversation, she made no mention of them whatsoever.

So it's a lot like the quest is activated, but I'm not in the first stage... so like, stage 0,5.

I also tried using the console, but the game doesn't seem to identify it when I type "SetStage FGD02DandD 1" or "SetStage FGD02DandD 2" (where FGD02DandD is the quest code). It just says "FGD02DandD is not an identified object. Script not saved!"

Does anyone have any ideas? I hope you guys can help me.

Thanks for reading and any help is appreciated,

Peter aka Ekkoe

Problem solved. If anyone shares this problem: I was on the right way with my solution. Simply insert the command "SetStage *questID(found at UESPWiki)* 20" or another number to reset it. I inserted 2, but it works in percentages, so in steps of 10.

Okay, no its not.

The quest does appear in my log now, but it is not a conversation topic, so I can't talk to anyone about it or finish it. When I use the command "CompelteAllQuestStages", I still can't go to the questgiver in Chorrol to get my reward or even my promotion.

Help?! :(

I just tried disabling all mods; the problem remains.

It seems though, that it does not just occur with that particular quest, but with others too. I'm making a new game to check if it doesn't work either then. If it doesn't, I'll have to reinstall. If it does work, something was wrong with my safe file and I'll just have to deal with it...

Unless you guys have suggestions?

Once more, the issue:

Quests don't seem to work because the relevant topic does not appear. Instead, all NPCs have the regular topics such as "Rumors" and the like.

Whether an imported file will work often depends on whether the saved game uses exactly the same mods as the current game. Not every mod has this effect of course but some do. One way you can check where you are suppose to be is using the console command 'getstage' with the quest ID.
