alphachimera90
Got the game working with F4SE and a couple mods. Went to install the rest of my mods and the game crashes at start. Disable all mods, still crashes at start if I launch via F4SE but wont crash if I launch the vanilla game. This is something that I have been struggling to fix since the last big Fallout 4 update. Im not even sure where to begin. A bit of help from the more experienced modding community would be amazing!
WastelandAssassin
is your game updated with the latest patch? are you using the latest version of F4SE , that is meant for that specific version of the game?because game updates require F4SE to be updated , and I believe that using incompatible versions will cause crashes on start
alphachimera90
Yes, I am using the latest version of both. Like I said above as well. I was able to launch with F4SE with a few initial mods loaded. After installing the rest now it crashes even with all mods disabled.
WastelandAssassin
I guess I missed that parthave you installed anything that overwrote any F4SE files? because if you can't load the game through F4SE even with no mods , maybe something is wrong with thattry reinstalling F4SE , to see if it will cause the game to start now (again , try with no mods) how are you installing your mods? which mod manager are you using? whatever the case , if reinstalling F4SE doesn't make the game start , try to reinstall the game and start from that fresh installation , and try building from there
alphachimera90
Im using nexus mod manager. And yes I have tried re-installing F4SE with no joy. BTW thank you for the help
alphachimera90
Ok guess there is only one thing to do. I actually uninstalled all mods and now F4SE loads up fine. Guess its time to install just a couple at a time to find the culprit
Algabar
Just FYI: The "culprit" you're looking for is almost certainly a mod depending on F4SE, that comes with a .dll file of its own. That would explain, why you had the crashes even with mods disabled. Disabling doesn't mean "uninstall", so the now incomaptible .dll wpuld still be there - and loaded by F4SE, which woudl result in a crash. So maybe you can narrow your search down a bit this way. On a side note: The most common mods used with F4SE like "Looksmenu", "MCM menu", "Place anywhere" and the like are meanwhile updated. If it's not something rather uncommon, you should be able to install the new version and play on...
alphachimera90
Thanks for the info. I found the culprit. Its Settlement Objects Expansion Pack. Even the latest version causes me to crash every time. This is a must use mod for me... Wondering if there is some way of getting it to work
WastelandAssassin
are you using the version with all DLCs without having all the DLCs?I know it's a stupid question , but there is no reason for this mod to cause your issueas Algabar suggested , the mod you are looking for would probably be related to F4SEthis mod only consists of plugins and BA2 archives , so if you untick the plugins from your load order , they shouldn't cause the game to not load
alphachimera90
I have all the DLCs. I downloaded the latest version which supports the DLCs
