Aeradom
I decided to reinstall Fallout 4 to try out the Frost mod that a friend was telling me about. I was curious, what mods work well with the mod to enhance my gameplay experience. For instance, It's been a little while since I last played so what's the best interface mods? Oh and most importantly, what's the best way to adjust the difficulty? I'm fine with things being very lethal towards me but bullet sponges are the dumbest thing (and if possible some AI fixes to make them smarter unless this conflicts with Frost). WastelandAssassin
my suggestions is to look through that mod's page , especially regarding compatible mods (or looking through the required mods , as that will show you patches made for this mod that are hosted on different pages)the biggest problem with large mods is that due to have they affect the majority of the game , they will likely conflict with most mods you are trying to run along side themso you should build your mod list around mods that are compatible with Frost , so either mods that work along side it from the get go , or mods that have functional patches (and you should really read the comment sections , to be sure the patches are truly up to date and working properly) I've been out of the FO4 scene for quite a long time , and I've never tried Frost myself , but I do hope my piece of advice helps youalso , another suggestion you might be able to use is to look at playthroughs on YouTube . I know that many people have uploaded playthroughs of Frost , so maybe you can find fully functional mod lists through these videos (some users put their mod list in the description or link to modwatch or something similar)hope these help , and enjoy :)
MissingMeshTV
Have you looked through the mod description page? The author has a pretty decent list of recommended compatible mods, although it could stand to use some updates and additions. Keep in mind that FROST is a VERY extensive overhaul, even more so then overhauls like Horizon or Immersive Gameplay. It removes just everything you know from the vanilla game, namely quests, NPC, factions. Pretty much anything that changes damage, combat, etc is going to conflict which is why it pays to do your homework. Don't use anything that makes changes to perks, as they will really bork your game. FROST overhauls the perk system extensively. There is a pretty good selection of patches to make various mods compatible, if you search for FROST you should get an idea of what there is. The mod is designed for Survival difficulty and is the recommended way to play, so you really don’t control difficulty. It pretty much goes against the intent of the mod to play otherwise. Leveling has been completely reworked (or removed). At Level 1 you may run into a level 20 Army Remnant. You may also find weapons and armor that you normally wouldn’t encounter until higher levels. Have a look at the Dust/Frost subreddit for more info. Lots of good reading there. The author also has a Dischord that I think is linked from the subbredit. Check the FROST comments on the Nexus page too..people often report on mod compatibility there. FROST isn’t a mod for everyone, be prepare to die. A lot. There are no quests, just lost of cool lore and a plot line pieced together through reading notes and terminal. One other word of advice for installing it: DO NOT use NMM. I strongly suggest using MO2 and use a profile exclusively for FROST. NMM has become horrible at properly enabling/disabling mods and it’s implementation of “profiles” is abysmal. I’ve seen several FROST Let’s Plays where the game eventually breaks because certain mods didn’t get deactivated when the player switched NMM profiles...Survivors were showing up as Raiders and Gunners for starters. As for mod recommendations, I highly recommend Inside Job. It adds a series of really well done interior cells that have just the right amount of loot for a hardcore survival run. A few of the cells also have good beds to sleep in, which can be hard to find in FROST. A few of my player home mods (Cambridge Bunglaow, Scavenger''s Safehouse, Eden Meadows Cinema (Far Harbor) were made with survival mode in mind. I specifically did the Cambridge Bungalow for use in my first FROST run. Some might consider it OP for FROST, but it's all based on how you play. Above all else, you should use the FROST FPS Fix and place it at the bottom of your load order. The mod disables precombined meshes in just about every cell of the map leading to horrible FPS downtown and many other places. This mod fixes that by rebuilding the precombined and previs data for far better frame rates. Good luck, and don't forget to Let Go.
