hi all i have a serious problem......

i crash randome when i play AND i cannot access certain zones or i crash....an example is vicente valtieri room....when i enter the room i crash...

Oblivion crashes can be caused by many things and come in several types.

 

An occasional random crash is actually fairly normal. If they are occurring too often or consistently is when they become a problem.

 

In order to diagnose a crash, we need a lot of information:

The specifications on your computer. CPU, Motherboard, Amount of RAM, Video card and video RAM, Sound system - is it 'on board' or a separate board and the info on it.

Or,if you do not know any of this, the brand name and model number of the computer.

Do you have the most up to date driver for your video card? Sound card? Windows?

 

Which version of Windows (or other operating system) do you have?

 

Which version of Oblivion do you have? Which patches are installed? Are you using Shivering Isles and what patch for it?

 

Are you running Oblivion full screen or in a window?

 

Are you using any helper programs such as OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager) OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) Wyre Bash or anything else.

 

Have you shut down any background programs that might be running. Some anti virus and other programs like to grab a portion of the system to perform some operation in the background. This can cause Oblivion to crash.

Xfire will crash Oblivion. An older HP printer driver will cause crashes. Oblivion does not like to share the computer with any other programs.

 

Are you using any mods? and which ones? a true load order might be helpful - the load list you get feom the Oblivion data list is usually NOT in load order.

 

Then, is you computer getting too hot? Usually you can start a game just after powering up cold and run for a while before you start having crashes if you are overheating.

Clean out the dust before adding any fans or more cooling. - Be sure to unplug the computer first!

 

Is your power supply too weak? These crashes can be a freeze - everything stops and will not do anything. or a Shut down and reboot.

Many low end brand name computers are underpowered and undercooled for games such as Oblivion. They were intended for office type use.

 

Before trying anything desperate, such a s reinstalling. Clean your system - run the disk clean up utility and remove any unused old programs (have you left a copy of an old game you no longer play on the hard drive?)Then run the defragment utility - if it hasn't been done lately this could take several hours. Oblivion runs much better on a clean and defragged hard drive.

 

If the crash is happening at the same place when you try to go into a certain area, Go somewhere else for a while and work on another quest, then after at least 3 game days have passed come back and try again. Unless you have changed it with a mod, the cell will reset in 3 days and the problem may no longer be there. If it is in an exterior location, try approaching the place from another direction.

I have oblivion patch 1.2.0416

i have bot shivering isles and knights of the nine

im playing oblivion in full screen mode

i have both OBMM and OBSE (but i crash also whn im not using them)

i haven't xfire, i usually play oblivion with msn turned on

im using just A LOT of mods. I can tell u all their names, but they are really A LOT

My computer isn too hot :|

First, try turning the MSN messenger off, it may be interfering with Oblivion. I'm not sure, but I think it sends and receives a marker every so often to let the messenger know you are still active.

 

Your computer seems adequate, but you didn't give us any info on the power supply. That 8800 board draws a lot of power. I would recommend a minimum of a 450 Watt power supply and 500 or more is even better.

 

Here is a way to get a good load order list using OBMM, copied from my help files on The Storm Raven Library. Click on the sig under this post to go there.

 

A load order list is needed for troubleshooting - The list in the Oblivion data list is not always in the order that things are actually loaded.

 

How to get your load order list into a post using OBMM

 

If you don't have OBMM, it is a great tool for managing mods as well as moving them in the load order and finding certain kinds of conflicts. It has many other capabilities, but this post is just to show how to get the load order list into a post for troubleshooting.

 

First, of course you have to have OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager) it's available free from the author's site here: http://timeslip.chorrol.com/

 

Look in the column on the left side, find the heading “Oblivion mod manager”

To download, click on the download just below the heading.

 

A new page will open with a list of different ways to install – pick the self installer.

Save the file, the best place is a separate folder you make mine is on the desk top and is oblivion downloads\OBMM. The main folder is called Oblivion Downloads. Then a subfolder inside that is called OBMM)

 

After it has downloaded, open that folder and find the file you just downloaded. It will be named obmm.zip. Click on it to start the install. It should automatically find your Oblivion and install itself in the right place. It will also give you the option of creating a desktop icon, a Quick launch icon. I recommend only the desktop icon.

 

Then the options for associating files – select all of these.

 

When it finishes installing, OBMM will start automatically.

 

It will start with a list of your mods on the left pane in their current load order. Active mods will be checked and inactive will have an empty check box.

 

To copy the load order, look on the right, you will see a box with 'Import/Export'. Click that.

Then select the first option, 'View Load Order'

 

A new window will open with only your active mods listed in their load order.

 

Use your mouse to highlight the entire list, then left click on the highlighted list.

 

A box will open with Cut, copy paste.

 

Select copy – DO NOT SELECT CUT!

 

Now you can close the window and close OBMM (This might take a few minutes as OBMM takes a while to close.)

 

Go to where you want to put the load order list – I recommend creating either a text document or a word processing document and naming it load order and the date

(load order 6-22-08.txt)

 

Then open that document, place your cursor at the beginning and right click. Select paste.

 

This should copy your load order into the document.

 

Now, to get the load order into a post, open the forum, find where you want to place the load order list and paste it. The copied text will be inserted where you place the mouse cursor.

I don't recognize many of your mods. Some look like possible non English mods. I'm not sure how they will work alongside the others. My only foray into a non English mod resulted not in crashes, but a mix of German and English (Germanglish?)

 

Of the ones I do recognize, I don't see any real problems.

 

Look for mods that change the same things, disable all but one.

 

However, The oblivion.esm should be ahead of all of the others. As that is the one that is being modified by the others.

 

You may try a process of elimination, disable about 10 mods at a time and try it. Eventually you should find a group that causes the problem. Then add them back until the problem reappears. Hopefully that will be the mod that causes your problem.

 

I'm having trouble with the meaning of alimentation. Feeding? Possibly in the wrong context?

Some of your mods shouldn't be used together, like the deadly reflex timed block mods, just use ONE of them.

So really look up to your mods and disable the ones you don't use often.

Ok i disabled quuite a lot mods but the problem is still not solved :(
