Hangman4358
ok, i have looked for anythign that shows me how to do this for 2 days now:http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=7574 I know it is easy to do, at least that's what people say, they just never say how to do it. I am guessing the process is the same for armor. I already looked at the file in nifscope and i see he just attached the fire effect from the torch. But HOW? Any help would be much appreciated. I have been modding the battlefield series for almost 10 years now, i could do this in about 5 seconds with both hands tied behind my back blindfolded for those games. But i just started modding skyrim and I feel like a total noob. which i am i guess

gasti89
It seems there are no tutorials on youtube about that. I've haven't messed with animated enchantments yet, so let me guess something. The fire thing takes place in the magic effect attached to the enchantment, wich is attached to the weapon. So you have to first create a magic effect, wich should be permanent. Then you have to mess a bit with all the animations, until you find the fire one (or you may have to create a specific fire animation nif that fits with the sword). After this, create an enchantment and attach the magic effect. Now attach the enchantment to the sword. Again, i'm not sure about this, since the only magic stuff i created is an amulet wich give a damage percentage.
Hangman4358
Well it's not that i want to create a magic effect that has the flames. From the looks of the files from the above link he just added the flames as part of the nif itself and not as an enchantment with a fire effect. I want to attach the flames to the object so that if you wanted you could still enchant it
gasti89
Oh well, so you'll need modeling knowledges. I'm sorry but i can't give you any advice anymore :P
Hangman4358
I have a fair amount of knowledge in 3d modeling in general. But I have not found anything on specifics like this for TES

But I have not found anything on specifics like this for TES all you really need to do for that is use the Torch.nif model as a template, remove the actual torch and replace it with any model of a weapon. you can then scale the flame effect to suit the weapon a bit better :) i did this for two swords in my weapons resource :)Embercoil:http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/images/12087-1-1333387170.jpgLongclaw:http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/images/12087-1-1333375951.jpg My suggestion: have a look at those weapons and see if you can do the same using nifskope, the torch.nif and your own (custom) weapon model. you can find them here:http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=12087 (and no, this is not a cheap way to advertise my own mod :P just trying to help here ;) ) Edit:looks like i didnt completely read the OP :P if you'd like a step by step guide, let me know and i'll see what i can do for you. Hangman4358
Yeah, a step by step would be nice. I really have no clue what to do with nifscope. and how to parent things together. if that is even how it works in nifscope. I have been using it and I have figures out how to change textures and set up a clones set of standard armor and weapons using in-game models and then doing a retext of them. And I figured out hot to mess with things like glow and how shiny some things are and such. But i find those self explanatory from looking at the files. If this were Battlefield 2 I could do something similar in 5 seconds but I am such a noob at this for skyrim. I don;t even know what to really search for on google. I don't know any of the nifscope terminology yet. As for your shameless plug, they look nice and look like they would actually fit into skyrim lore. Finally not some ridiculous 7 foot anime sword.
