Silent Bosmer Posted July 17, 2008 Share Posted July 17, 2008 Please can someone help me with what seems to be an unusual problem? (I read through every single post in Technical Support and didn't find it.) The problem is that I have never been able to use the 'Z' key to grab things. This has been the case for the entire time I've had Oblivion installed, so it's not due to a mod. I've tried reassigning the grab function to another key. Then I reset to defaults hoping that it would somehow work (definition of madness I know but, hey). I've tried using it in and out of sneak mode, and in both view modes so I could see if any animations were happening. They weren't. I've even tried to figure out if the command is case sensitive. Since it doesn't work either way, I guess I still don't know. Now I'm wondering if I need to check my .ini file, but I don't know what to look for. This hasn't been a big issue for me before, but I want to use Decorator's Assistant and Thieves Arsenal. I need it for the first, of course, and I suspect that Thieves Arsenal will be much more enjoyable if I can move unconscious bodies, so help would be much appreciated. Oh, yes. I am using the GOTY Edition. I installed the expansions a little after the original game, and the grab key, as I recall, was already not working when I added KOTN and SI. In fact it's so odd that there has to be a simple explanation for it. 1: Not to make it sound like you're stupid or anything like that, but make sure you hold down "z" while trying to grab something. 2: If by chance, you already know that, then try removing you're Oblivion.ini file and let the game make a new one, just to make sure if it's the .ini file or not. Other than that...I don't know. It's obviously not you're z key itself, because you typed it in your post... And caps don't matter in game, just so you know. No, I'm not stupid(and don't think you're saying so), but I am one of those strange people who are better at complicated stuff than what's right in front of my eyes, so it could well be number one.
