RyderTheWolf
Hi everyone on the Nexus Forums, Heavily interested in the idea of Skyrim, I picked up the game upon release and when the Creation Kit came out, I decided that when my uni course was done for the year, I would attempt to make a modification for the fantastic game that it is. Doing Game Design at university, I crafted the idea until I felt it was ready to share it, and a friend of mine recommended that I placed it on here. Basically, it introduces a new species of creature to Skryim that has existed in some games before, but not enough in my personal opinion. The species of the Djinn. Or genies if you want to call them by that name. The name of the mod would be The Djinn Chapters - Dream of the Rim Main Concept- to add new NPCs, both djinn and people alike to connect the new quests.- to add new quests, to build the knowledge of the species and to show how they live in the world- add doors and warp-points to new areas, specifically created for the mod advanced functions- include new items, spells and clothing to accommodate these changes- add a new species to the game, which the player can be transformed into at some point.- create a smoke tail effect for the djinn, not necessarily connecting the npc to their magical prison. Information on some of the quests, and the profiles of the djinn we have designed for the mod can be found on this deviantArt group. http://skyrimgeniemod.deviantart.com/ If anyone could offer their assistance in making this mod possible, me and my friends are looking for these roles in particular - 3d modellers- Creation Kit programmers If you are interested in helping with this mod, or you just want to offer some constructive criticism, please let me know. DaveSpins
So far, I love it. The story of Kalr and Caroth is quite amusing. I'd like to offer my (limited) skills to help this mod along. I'm terrible at modelling, but I'd like to think scripting comes easily to me, even if I do have a lot to learn.

RyderTheWolf
Now the topic has been added, I will move across the info so everyone can read it without checking the group :) - Laws Of The Djinn - #1 - The Four Forbidden Wishes As one of the almighty djinn, a genie cannot grant any of these four wishes. 1. They cannot interfere with free will.2. They cannot produce or influence the emotions and feelings of others.3. They cannot cause someone to die, or to bring someone back from the dead and most important of all 4. They cannot grant a wish to receive more wishes. If any of the first three are broken, the genie will refuse the wish and that wish will be voided. If the final rule is broken, the genie will have no choice but to use their power to transform the wisher into a genie themselves, so they will be forced to enforce the rule they broke. As well as the other three that they could have broken. -

Vowing revenge, Okelo murdered his wife's assassins, only to be cast out of his village because of his actions. He wondered the vast lands of Tamriel, and many years later came upon a mountain that was higher than any he had ever seen. The khajit knew that he was dying, so he decided as a final act, he would climb the mountain and let himself be taken at its peak. After a long journey, he reached the top of the mountain and unconvered a mysterious vessel. Opening it, he released a fellow khajit that had been cursed to become a powerful genie by an evil sorcerer. Explaining his situation to Okelo, the genie did not entertain any notion of being released. Okelo considered his life, and that if he took the place of the cursed feline, he could perform one last act of goodness as a mortal man. He made the wish, and in a flash of light, the khajit became free and Okelo was now an immortal genie. Thanking Okelo for his kind gift, the ex genie went down the mountain, leaving it at the peak, as per the new genie's request. Okelo had stated that his power should only be given to the worthy, and that only one who could traverse the mountain should become his master. Honouring this, the younger khajit used his own powerful magic to create a place that only the strong willed and pure of mind could enter. Then he spread word of a powerful being that would grant the desires of the worthy to the people of Skyrim. In the centuries that passed, Okelo became known as The Mountain King. - Name - Ekalu of the Argonian Age - 1064 Species - Genie (Form of a Argonian) Gender - Female Scales Colour - TBD Alignment - Subserviant Quest - The Kindness of Strangers Short Backstory - Ekalu has existed for many thousands of years, and she has only known the life of an imprisoned genie. After one terrible day with her family, she ran from her home and sought refuge in the home of the Thieves Guild. They took her in and raised her in the art of thievery, improving the skills of agility and cunning she already possessed. However, one of the thieves grew jealous of her talents, and persuaded the elders to send her on a quest to retrieve one of the most dangerous and powerful talismans known to Skyrim. A magic lamp. Upon gaining the artefact for herself, she accidentally released it's powerful denizen and after a conversation with the genie, was convinced to take his power from him by wishing for them to trade places. The wish was done Arisa was transformed into the genie of the lamp. She shouted with joy at her power, but screamed when she realised the price of her new power. Arisa was sucked into her new home, and locked away in the very place that she found it. Raging inside the lamp, Arisa declared that she would have her revenge on the guild for letting her be trapped this way, and especially on the man who forced her to take his place inside the cursed item. - Name - Atasu of the Argonian Age - Unknown (Possibly Millenia) Species - Genie (Form of a Argonian) Gender - Male Scales Colour - TBD Alignment - Neutral Quest - Hard Life of the Djinn Short Backstory - Atasu has existed since the dawn of creation, and his lamp has been hidden in a place that only those who are wise with power can obtain it. He was very arrogant and cared nothing about the people he would soon rule. Also in line for the throne was his brother Caroth, whom his father favoured as the better ruler. In order to prove which brother should be the king, the current monarch sent them on a quest to an ancient temple, and whoever brought back the treasure would become the king. After a long and fraught journey through the kingdom and the temple, the two brothers finally reached the pedestal where the treasure was kept. The treasure was a golden bottle with a stopper made out of silver. Both grabbing it, they rubbed it at the same time, realising a genie who would grant them both one wish for freeing him. Not wanting to share anything with his brother, Kalr wished for the power of a genie so he could be the ruler. Not wanting to be outclassed, Caroth wished for the same thing. The genie granted the wish, transforming both of the men into genies, but at a terrible cost. The magic that would have made him mortal was used to transform one of the brothers, so the genie was literally drained off his essence and died an agonising death. Both brothers relished in their new powers, until they realised they were connected to two new shining bottles of their own. In a matter of seconds, they were both sucked inside their new prisons. The death of the other genie caused the bottle to explode and the whole temple fell around in ruins, except for the room, which remained partly intact. The two bottles were scattered to opposite sides of the room, but that didn't stop Kalr and Caroth yelling at each other, for the next few thousand years ... - Name - Caroth of the Human Age - Unknown (Possibly Millenia) Species - Genie (Form of a Human) Gender - Male Alignment - Borderline Jackass Quest - Sibling Rivalry Short Backstory - Caroth was once in line for the throne of small kingdom on the outskirts of Skyrim. Name - Freisa of the Human Age - 30 (Only been a genie for 5 years) Species - Genie (Form of a Human) Gender - Female Alignment - Literal Quest - The Debt Collector Short Backstory - Freisa was a young woman who needed money to feed her starving family, so she made a deal with a few loan dealers in order to keep her family solvent until they became old enough to survive. When the time came, they had saved enough money to pay off the debt, all except for Freisa's share. Threatening to kill her, the Argonian debt collectors gave her thirty days to find the money. If she didn't find it, her life was forfeit. On the twenty ninth day, Freisa came across an old lamp on the beach by Solitude. Rubbing it softly so she could sell it later, she was very surprised to see smoke pour from it and form into a very grateful male genie. Freisa had heard legends of the power of the beings, and the fact that when they were in their lamps, no one could find them unless they knew where to look. Making a deal with the genie, the two switched places. The now free Khajit that been a genie was now mortal, and after sealing Freisa in the lamp and burying it, it seemed that the young woman was safe, and the young khajit could live the life he had longed for since the day he was imprisoned millenia before. RyderTheWolf
NPC's - Genie (Of The Djinn) This update is to show the main mechanics of how the djinn species will work in this Skyrim mod. - Upon finding the genie's prison item, the player will not be given any indication that it is such an item. If they inspect the item, (rub, open, etc), the genie is summoned before the player. Each genie has its own greeting that it will say every time when it is released. - Okelo - Greeting my master, I am Okelo, the genie of the lamp. Your every wish is mine command. Atasu - Ah, I am summoned once more. My name is Atasu, the genie of the lamp. Honoured sire, what is thy wish? Freisa - Great master, I am the genie of the bottle and I am here to do you as you ask. Arisa - *laugh* Pitiful mortal, you have released the most evil of genies. Hear now that my name is Arisa, and your every fearful desire is mine to make true. Kalr - Free at last! Tell me your wish my master, and Kalr, your humble genie of the bottle shall do as you please. Caroth - I'm finally out of there! My name is Caroth, the genie of the bottle. Give me three wishes master, and they shall be my command. Ynali - Ah, I am back among mortals once more. My name is Ynali, the genie of the bottle. Honoured sire, what is thy wish? Ekalu - Hello master, I am the genie of the lamp and my name is Ekalu. Tell me your wish, and it shall come true. - The player then has the option of three wishes. This can be a selection of : -weapons, spells, shouts that can unlocked for the player to use.-Gold to be given to the player's account. -Relationships to improve, but not love. -free the genie. Free the genie will not work on Okelo, Atasu and Ynali as they will refuse the gift and say they are happy being servants. Certain genies will grant wishes in different ways -Kalr and Caroth will try to twist your wishes to the worst possible result.-Freisa will grant your wish exactly as it is spoken.-Arisa will use scare tactics to make you think of dangerous wishes.-Okelo and Ekalu will grant your wish exactly as you want it, being as they are benevolent/subservient.-Atasu and Ynali will obey your every command without question or side effect, but to the letter. - Atasu and Ynali have one more option than the others, and that is to wish to become a genie yourself. Both of them will ask you are you sure that is what you want and you can confirm this. If you say no, you can go back to making your three wishes. If you say yes, you will be transformed into a genie, wearing the clothing that suits your new position and you cannot change it until you are freed by a wish from a random NPC event when someone activates your prison. More details about this can be found in a future update to the mod information. - After each wish is made, the player can make a small conversation with the genie, or ask that they return to their prison. They will do so without question. -
