EnigManic
Hello everyone. I can't find my problem listed anywhere here or through a google search, so I assume it's safe to start a new topic. Help would be very much appreciated. I bought a 360 wired controller for playing Skyrim and downloaded the driver from Microsoft's site. The controller is detected and is working, sort of. Checking it outside the game shows that all buttons and stick axis are detected and working properly. However when playing Skyrim, I have the following problems: The button configuration is all screwed up and I can't fix it. Right stick does not work. Clicking it draws or sheathes the weapon but the axis do nothing. The start button works the character's right hand. The left hand is mapped elsewhere. The trigger buttons look left and right. In the controls menu where buttons are remapped, I cannot set LT or RT and the right stick does nothing. Can someone please help?
luthienanarion
downloaded the driver from Microsoft's site You what? I've never had to download a driver for the 360 controller (and I don't play Beth games without it). Unless you're running an archaic (pre-Vista) version on Windows, it should install drivers as soon as you plug it into a USB port. You might try uninstalling and deleting the driver files you downloaded and seeing if Windows will find drivers for it on its own. Also, delete Data\Interface\Controls\PC\controlmap.txt if it exists. EnigManic
Thanks for replying. It actually did automatically get the driver. I didn't know that and so ended up with a copy, lol. I'm running Windows 7 btw. I actually figured out the problem. Before finding a MS 360 controller, I used my Logitech controller with a 360controller emulator. It worked perfectly except the left stick gets very clunky. My problem was that when using the 360 controller, the emulator files caused conflicts. I reinstalled Skyrim without the controller emulator and now my 360 controller works perfectly. Thanks again for replying.
