So somehow I lost one of my NPC followers (Faendal), and decided to do do the easiest thing to find said NPC (player.moveto console command) and I found him in the PC's own jail cell. Would anyone happen to know why?

What do you mean "the PC's own jail cell"? The PC has no jail cell. You obviously have a mod installed that assigns you to one, so maybe you should list those you have so people can get some kind of idea what is going wrong, here.

@eodx9000, 'PC's own jail cell' are you talking about a weird '+' or cross shaped room?

looks something like this: http://steamcommunity.com/id/mahnogard/screenshot/595843275536994536?tab=public

if you found Faendal in there using player.moveto, that's a game cleanup cell that holds bodies of NPC's that died.

console command: 'coc WIDeadBodyCleanupCell' can teleport you there (use 'coc riverwood' or other location to teleport back out)

if my guess is right, poor Faendal probably met his demise at the hands of a bandit/dragon/hostile without you witnessing it, you can

resurrect Faendal (if he's dead) and then use a console command to teleport him back out of there (Faendal's Ref ID: 0001348C).

Suggest setting followers with essential status so this kinda thing doesn't happen.

if i'm totally off about all the above, maybe Faendal was observed-caught trepassing/stealing with you somewhere?

What I mean is a jail cell the PC gets thrown in which consists of the bed, dresser, and dead prisoner stuff, which in the specific case was the jail cell in Whiterun.

Yeah, unfortunately you are off. I know what the cleanup cell looks like. I'm not sure I could replicate the issue since I told Faeldan to go back home or whatever, but I'll try. (Also I have a mod that makes followers essential, I think it's U.F.O.)

Yeah, no-go on the replication since he's at his home now. lol

ok lol, yeah, Faendal doesn't seem to bright to me; but then again,

most follower AI's seem one mead short of a sixpack.

seems like you got a strange hiccup in Skyrim's NPC scripting or something,

probably a good thing you sent him home to cry over Camilla again.

I had a small trouble locating my followers, until i did that same trick and found them all in the prison under a fort i've cleaned out. for some reason they stayed behind when i moved out of there. this could be a similar issue
