HELP: The Purple grass texture prob

i know alot of oblivion players who have installed some texture mods have had this prob b4, i remember fixing it once but now it's happened again and don't know what to do

the problem happened when i tried to install a Better Grass mod that would fix the default grass looking crappy but in the readme it said to put the full directory of the mods installed texture location in the Archive Validation text document, i didn't have that file so the readme said to create one, i tried but it didn't say exactly WHERE this text file is supposed to be, i tried everywhere but still no luck

i tried looking for fixes on other forums but none work or i haven't been able to try them, heres a couple:

*supposedly one way to fix it is to replace a folder thats in the oblivion directory (i can't remember the name but it's got about 10-12 files in it, it's on another computer), i don't have a CLEAN copy of this folder, can sum1 please up this

*another was to uninstall oblivion and regedit and delete any leftover directories, i didn't find any extra registries when installed and not

is there an easy way to fix this prob, like install Quarls texture pack or sumthing to replace the texture file(im on dailup at the moment so it's hard to test)

I THINK i fixed it last time by installing the default or better quality version of the original, i can't find it no more

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

tried that already, it just isn't finding the default texture after removal, im sure i fixed this roblem before by installing a tiny file that has a very forgetable name (it's jumbled like MNSt83e. something file)

can someone up a clean shaders folder as it might help, it doesn't change/refresh when i try to uninstall and reinstall

I'm having a similar problem but not with grass, it's with the mages banners and I can't figure it out and I don't understand what was meant by "removing the models from the meshes folder" and I'm confused on how changing the shaders file might fix it? And what's the downside? Can it foul anything else up?

Is there a link that discusses this more fully somewhere?

Not sure if your 'purple grass' is the same as the 'purple ground' I have seen in the past. This is for the purple ground. Its an older help file and I haven't kept it as up to date as some of my others.

Purple ground

I believe this is caused by a group of files called shaders. These files can be different for different graphics cards. If they somehow get the wrong shaders installed one of the results is the terrain in the foreground is purple. The shader package is based on your particular graphics card and is installed when you first install Oblivion. Any changes should only be made by people who are experienced with Graphics shaders. If you want more information on shaders, google it.

I have seen 3 possible fixes for this problem. The easiest is to go into your in game menu, (esc) select video and make sure your texture size is set to large.

The second involved the textures from unique landscapes. reinstalling them fixed it.

The third involves loading patches in the wrong order and the only way to fix that one is to reinstall in the right order. Note that the oblivion uninstaller leaves behind your saves, mods (data) and oblivion.ini. These will still be there after you have reinstalled. So if You have a problem with a mod causing the problem or a bad save or a bad Oblivion.ini file The problem nay still be there.

My recommended uninstall and reinstall leaves you with a clean install. And your original mods and saves in a separate folder that you can put back into the new game. Or you can start over and install your mods again.

See this for my recommendation for uninstalling and reinstalling Oblivion. http://s1.zetaboards.com/TheStormRavenLibrary/topic/344290/

Please leave some feedback to let me know what works. Thanks
