No it can't, because good in our world has no meaning without evil. Therefore you are redefining the word for your world. You can certainly do that but it is not the same.

It's analogous to happiness. You can only understand what happiness is (for you) when you know what it is like if you are not happy.

Okay - an exercise. I am one of the beings in your world and I ask what the word good means. What do you answer?

OK, I give up. I'll try one last time. You agree, that an omnipotent being - a being, who can do anything, even if it seems impossible with human logic? And yet you say that even an omnipotent being can't give meaning to "good" in a world with no evil. Where's your logic?

I have no idea what should the answer be, because I am not omnipotent. If I were omnipetent, I could answer.

The point is that an omnipotent being per se is not in need of the means of communication we know (With whom should it communicate? There's not much room for other omnipotent beings when you are one already.), and that common language would be only needed to communicate with non-omnipotent beings of your creation. Therefore the word 'good' must have a meaning as far as communication with those is concerned, and in case of your creation, logic must apply.

Malchik has made it more than clear why the word 'good' cannot exist alone, so I won't expand further on that.

Well we can't very well debate somthing that we all know dosnt exist, at least not yet. What you can or cannot do is not yet known. Therefore your opionions are all based on your perseption of omnipotence, what it should be.

For those who dont want to read that whole essay I'll post a few paragraphs that focus on our debate here.

The third general reason for doubting immortality is the idea that human nature is necessarily limited. Even if people realize that they will not survive physical death, and they are prepared to admit that death might not be inevitable, they may still doubt the wisdom of life extension. They fear that radical life extension would somehow cause change to cease, so that nothing new under the sun could take place. Common worries along these lines are that long life would be boring or pointless, or that society would become ossified, or that evolution would stop, or that no one could have any children.

In order for a significant social acceptance of immortality to occur, each of these 3 common philosophic viewpoints will need to be addressed. It's important for both skeptics and immortalists to stick to specific issues when arguing their views. The specific issues are: Do we have souls that can survive physical death? Is it likely that science can one day find a way to give us physical immortality? And: would physical immortality be worthwhile or is there a good reason why human lifespan should be finite?

Thnk you, thats what im talking about. Humans suck at on the fly conclusions, we figure stuff out by studying it, we use logic. "stick to specific issues" I hate the way people take to debating this and many other post where supernatural anything is involved (such as the endless god threads) Before you go bleiveing somthing you should question that believe, put it too the test, any non-tested belive should not be belived. Smae gos for opinions and morals (and laws and policys, and procedures etc.) Would you like to be the first test pilot for a new space ship that flys through the sun? No you would want monkeys to test it first, you would want proof. Challenge everything.
