FatalisticZero
Hey, I am new to modding and one of my plans is to create new meshes and textures - New armour and weapons mostly. The tools I will be using are BlenderNifskopePhotoshop So far I have made a sword mesh, textured it and placed it in the game. It is pretty bad. http://imgur.com/SmBxm I am very new to this and have a lot to learn! So I am wondering, does anyone know of any decent stock texture archives or websites? Also does anyone have any tricks or tips when it comes to modelling meshes, making texture maps and texturing. Or does anyone know of any good tutorials,In regards to texturing, I am having a bit of trouble finding anything past a basic tutorial. So if anyone knows of a tutorial that covers some more advanced texturing and different techniques, styles of texturing etc, a link would really be appreciated :) I am really enjoying modding Skyrim, but if I upload mods with new meshes and textures, I want those meshes and textures to be of a high quality. That is why I am asking for the above, I have a long way to go and a lot to learn. I would really appreciate any help anyone can give me :D. Cheers,FatalisticZero
ResolveThatChord
Yep, if you're after quality free stock textures, you can't go past CGTexures.com. Great site. And they have a lot of tiling textures too. If you want to learn how to model, hit up BlenderCookie.com, and just follow some modelling tutorials. I recommend the ones on human anatomy; they really teach you how to model complex organic shapes easily and efficiently. For texturing I have been kinda stumped for finding great tutorials, but luckily TESA has stepped in and started a Skyrim modding school. The classes are free to view without participating. It's a really awesome project, and unlike most modding tutorials which are of the "just watch and figure it out" mindset, these classes walk you through everything. If you're ever stumped and need questions answered (which you inevitably will), just send me a PM and I'll see what I can do to lend a hand. edit: Oh, and well done on getting your sword in-game! That's way harder than any one stage of the design/creation proccess. Edited May 14, 2012 by ResolveThatChord
