Accessing Data File

Hello. I have been trying to access my Skyrim Data files to activate the mods i have downloaded. but no luck. can someone please help me with this? and I am so dumb so please explain fully and elaborate. thank you.

First guess - you are downloading manually (not using the Nexus Mod Manager). AND, you are downloading directly into the game data folder.

 

The mods are downloaded in a zipped format and MUST be unzipped to be used. If you do not have a zip program such as Winzip, Winrar, 7zip or other you will need one - I recomend the FREE 7zip - which is available right here on The Nexus. http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=15579

 

Once you have a working zip program, follow this procedure

Create a special folder somewhere to download mods - I use C:\downloads\games\skyrim

Download the mods there Note: this is NOT the skyrim game folder.

click on the zipped mod in that folder, Your zip program should open and ask what you want to do with the mod - you want to 'Extract it into the game data folder - you will have to tell the zip program where that folder is

Then when you start the game, instead of immediately clicking PLAY, click on DATA and select the mods - Then play.

 

OR. Use the Nexus Mod Manager
