HUD-Problem

My friend recently bought a new laptop so that he could play Skyrim. He had no problems installing it through Steam, and the game runs perfectly with one exception: The HUD is nowhere to be found. Both the compass, healthbar, enemy healthbar, well actually everything in the HUD has disappeared. He can still view his map, inventory and journal, but not the HUD. We tried using console comands like "tm" and engaging in combat to trigger some sort of reaction, but without luck. He has choosen not to play it(which I completely understand) until this has been fixed, so I would like to know, if anybody else has had this problem, and if there's a way to fix it.

I always play with the hud disabled, but I can see how it'd be annoying if you weren't going for complete realism.

 

Does he have mods that affect the hud or user interface in any way?

 

Is the resolution set to be the laptop screen's native resolution?

 

Is the hud opacity set to 0 in the menu where you can adjust video settings in-game?

 

There are ini tweaks as well to turn off the hud, but I don't remember them. You'll want to search for those.

there is a console command to enable/disable the Hud. look it up.

Well, I'm pretty sure he hasn't any mods installed, I didn't check for resolution, but it might have something to do with the opacity. He fiddled with the ingame options to make it run as smooth as possible, and maybe he did something with the HUD opacity. But I'm completely sure he didn't touch the ini.file, asked him earlier ;)

 

But thanks anyway, I'll try telling him about the HUD opacity next time I see him.
