Skyrim CTD (with no errors) during beginning

I have searched around the internet but haven't found a single person having the same problem.

What happens is that during the beginning of the game, when you ride cart to your execution, the game crashes to desktop (CTD). There are no error messages or anything, the game works fine and smooth until the thief starts speaking, the game instantly crashes and exits, with no error messages or anything.

This even happens after reinstalling the game via Steam (I am not administrator on my computer, maybe reinstalling without those privalages has something to do with the problem).

I did have a lot of mods installed (15-20 mods or so) but I already deleted them (which was pretty damn stupid). Most of those mods were made before the Creation Kit was released, probably with TESSnip.

Does anybody else experience the same thing and does anyone know what could cause this problem?

I don't actually remember all the mods I was using, sadly. However, I deleted all of them, I have no mods installed. The problem still occurs.

If you delete mods manually, they can leave behind textures and meshes.

Using a mod manager usually cleans these up - BUT ONLY if you installed the mod using that mod manager.

Did your game ever work? It's not a good idea to install mods before finding out if the game actually works first.

I suffer from a related problem. While starting a new game I go through the same paces as described above, when it is time for Ralof (it's Ralof, right?) to start talking the game immediately crashes to the desktop with no error messages. I recently took about an hour to test the game, running Skyrim completely vanilla (no mods, no SKSE), and the game worked fine. After activating mods one by one I reached a point where any more mods would crash the game immediately, regardless of how insignificant they are.

This magic number seems to be 12, and if any other mod is activated after that the game crashes at the point described. This is both a possible solution to the problem above, that 15 mods seem to crash the game, and a further question:

Anyone know if this 'mod cap' is a common problem, and can one overcome it?

My game worked manually before, I used to be able to play it, however, after installing Midas Spells and Phenderix Magic Evolved, my game started crashing. Even after uninstalling.

I did solve the problem by just lowering my quality of everything except textures. Now it seems the game crashes whenever I'm about to get executed during the beginning.
