Cysia
Hi, I recently bought New Vegas, but i am having FPS issue. The thing that makes it drop is the lod, the clipping objects: I mean when i walk, and when the distant objects appear... My game in ultra setting is lagging a bit because of that, but I just can't play with the lod defaut settings in ultra, since I got a very bad distant lod even with max settings, for exemple a bridge just magically appears 5 metters away from! this is horrible! and all i can see is grass popping every where at a short distance...So I pused the in a litle bit (ugrid 120 or 160 / 6 or 7 and Fdade lod object 15.000) and it becomes laggy as hell when distant landscape and objects are popping!I also have AA and HDR forced with ini (and aniso). It seems a lot of settings, but I got even highter ones with fallout 3 and it is not laging at all outside! Even though I find NV less beautiful than Fallout 3 whith lower settings, I don't understant... This settings are high for the game, but it is not very demanding one, and I have no graphic mod at all, plus my computer should handle this, it is handeling an ultra setting Skyrim. My configuration: Windows seven 64 bitsI5 2500kHD68504 go ram I have the ultimate edition,It did not patched on steam, but as it is a goty version, i did not hink it was needed, since Oblivion or Fallout3 goty don't need patch either, but the weird thing is that no number version appear on the title menu, whereas Fallout 3 goty has one... Thx for any help!
luthienanarion
Sounds like slow disk access. It doesn't matter how powerful your processor and graphics card are, really; reading from disk will be your biggest performance bottleneck with this game engine. It's horribly un-optomized, and will never run a smoothly as Skyrim on the same hardware. My recommendation is to delete your INI files, verify cache in Steam to get the default ones back, and re-run the launcher.Move all the view distance sliders to about half-way. Otherwise, the engine is rendering things that are further away than the horizon. One thing that senselessly kills performance in this game is water. Disable refractions and reflections. The only other thing you should turn off is Transparency Multisampling; both ATI and NVidia drivers have rendered alpha transparencies incorrectly in this engine since some time in 2010. Version 1.4.0.525 is current, and you can check this out-of-game by right-clicking on the EXE and clicking Properties (Details tab). You probably have this version. Again, the only performance boost you can get from hardware at this point would be to run the game from an SSD or a ramdisk.
Cysia
Thx for your answer luthienanarion, I deleted my fallout.ini and fallout.pref, and made a cache check on steam. But now my game is always crashing, I can't load a single game.I tried with both default and ultra setting. I am showing you those settings, because I remember having deteleted my ini files to get the default ones and it was crashing like this.So I just put higher values in the LOD settings and it worked again oOBut this time it is not... or I don't know which value to change. Cysia
In fact I screwed up my saves with changing those line sin the ini uGridDistantCount=20uGridsToLoad=5 So I had to put again the not stable high settings back. This will help You to go back to the default settings with your saves games with not stable saves: - Load your save game with the not stable high settings- open the console- type setini “ugridstoload:general” 5 Then saveini Then refreshini Save the game, and your save game now support a ugrid=5 ini. But I solved my lagg problem with LOD This mod got rid of it (as mentionned on this post http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/674032-major-fps-drop-over-time/): (http://newvegas.nexu....com/mods/34832) I then put back my high settings LOD by midifying my ini settings again. But no matter how high I put it, I still had objects popping in front of me. Modifying this line in the Fallout.pref is now preventing it a lot it seems: fFadeDistance=16288.0000 I changed the value like this fFadeDistance=20000.0000 I still got some grass poping but it is still better with no lag it seems for the moment.
