While doing quests at the College of Whitehurst (sp??) -- When I came out of Saarhal(sp??), Lydia was not with me. I rested (T key) for hrs and she nvr showed. After logging out for over an hr real time--I fast traveled back to Whiterun (sp??) --good grief lol -- and she didn't show up there either. How do I get her back?--she has most of my gear after I changed into the Mage garb. Thnx

in console, type:

 

prid a2c94 [hit enter]

moveto player [hit enter again]

 

caveat: if she got killed I'm not sure what this'll do, if anything. I've used this command a lot to retrieve wandering companions without any problems - the number is the reference id (not the base id) of the particular npc. In any event don't use the "placeatme" command - afaik, it spawns a duplicate npc and can screw things up.

the console I mean is only available on PC (and an absolute godsend - can advance borked quests too, but that's another story... check out the wiki for more info)

 

Hit the "tilde" key on the upper left of your keyboard - the squiggly "~" thing. It pauses the game and allows you to type in commands, including the one I mentioned above. When done, hit the tilde again to exit back into the game. She should appear right away. (Again, if she wasn't killed. I've never used it on a dead companion.)

Yes she will be lootable, and if dead, the above command may not work ... I've never tried it on a dead follower either :psyduck:

 

You might want to look into making Lydia non killable on your next play through (their are plenty of mods which do this, as well as a console command (like above) which can make any NPC un-killable (refer: "setessential" command on the Wiki)

Lydia is just one of those followers that you become attached to, she's a pain sometimes, and she's not really all that good in a serious fight but ... I dunno how Bethesda did it but they made that pain in the **** so loveable ... :wallbash:

There is a console command to bring her to you rather than you travelling to her location. (I'm at work and don't have it memorized). There is also another console command to resurrect an NPC. Unfortunately I've had to use it a couple times. If you search I'm sure you can find them.
