Ouch.

 

It sounds final, but before you give up, install the Unofficial Oblivion Patch. It fixes a lot of problems that were not fixed in official patches. Also, try letting oblivion remake the Oblivion ini in "\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion." Sometimes this might cause problems.

 

I had all the patches and unofficial patches installed. I have figured out this much.....If I load a saved game just before I take the emperor to Imperial city I can enter Bruma ok. But as soon as finish the quest by becoming the Champion and getting the Imperial Armor I cannot get into Bruma anymore. If I do not take the Emperor to IC city and use the console command to complete the quest from that point I still become champion but do not get the armor. BUT I can still get into Bruma. So something is happening between Cloud Ruler Temple and watching that Dragon fight.

Also before I complete the quest the normal way the city Bruma is called BRUMA after finishing the quest the normal way Bruma name changed

to Aooo a bunch of garbage characters. So personally I think the game is one of the best I've played over the years but I find there are still bugs in the game. Also dont think I have not tried everything you can think of Ihave been in computers for over 25 years and I dont give up to easy.

I run Oblivian on Windows Vista SP1, so you may say its a Vista problem, but dont worry I also have run the same game on Windows XP with all the latest service packs and still get the same problem. But like I said, its only a game and no use losing sleep over it. I will just wait until there is a new version of Oblivian if ever, and see what happens. But for now I have put the game aside..............

Ok, if that's what you want. Even though Oblivion is finicky and time consuming just to get to work, it's still worth it in some way. But, there are plenty of awesome games out there...so I hope the next one you try works better.

Although I have said I have put the game aside it is bugging me as to why this problem occurs. So I am still trying to figure it out.

I have noticed that any of my characters which I have played for some time ( more than 45 hrs) cannot get into Bruma, the game crashes every time. But yet when I start a new character I can get to Bruma without crashing the game. Its the same game nothing changed nothing added or deleted. Just remember as I said there are no other mods installed just all the patches and unofficial patches. So my guess is that there is something getting done to the save files which results in this crashing thing.
