Data Files working but nothing in the menu

0) Make sure that you are putting your esp, esm and bsa mod files into your game's "...Skyrim\DATA" folder, not the "...Skyrim\" folder.

1) I would suggest doing a Windows search of your entire PC for "Skyrim.ini" and "SkyrimPrefs.ini"

2) Rename ALL ini files that are found to "Skyrim.OLD" or "SkyrimPrefs.OLD"

3) Launch Skyrim AS ADMINISTRATOR. It should ask you to set up your graphics options again. Choose low detail for now, then launch the game.

4) Once in the main menu, quit Skyrim.

5) Now run Skyrim Launcher AS ADMINISTRATOR and check if the Data menu is working now. If it is, then problem solved.

6) If it isn't, then find SkyrimPrefs.ini in your "...\<username>\MY DOCUMENTS\MY GAMES\SKYRIM" folder. Edit this file and LOOK for a line like:

bEnableFileSelection = 0

OR/

bEnableFileSelection = 1

If you find such a line, and it is set to "0", then change the "0" to "1"

If you find such a line, and it is set to "1", then you have a problem and probably need to reinstall Skyrim.

If you don't find either line, then ADD this to the file:

bEnableFileSelection = 1

(it shouldn't matter where in the file you put this line, as long as it is on a new line by itself, and there is no duplicate line anywhere else in the file)

Now save the ini, run Skyrim Launcher AS ADMINISTRATOR (if using Vista/Windows 7), and see if the data menu works.

If it works, then great. If it doesn't then you may need to reinstall Skyrim. Make sure you run the installation AS ADMINISTRATOR.
