Razor444
I honestly did not know where to write this topic, then in 1 week is my birthday and as a bonus I will make a new 4 GB RAM, hoping that there is another computer inside the slot so I will have 2GB RAM + 4 GB = 6GB.However I do not even know much about these things and wanted to say but if I have 6 GB of RAM, Skyrim will go much more smoothly than 2GB of RAM?Will be trivial as a question of these things but I do not understand anything. So I wanted to know if the RAM increase the fluidity increases Skyrim?

Mrcold1
It will have an impact if...1. the poor performance you see now is related to low memory, ie; lagging when the game loads new cells/areas and you use a lot of high res texture mods.2. you have a 64 bit OS. if your running a 32 bit OS, it wont use more than about 3 gig anyway. Razor444
I have Windows 7 32 Bit so i think play in 32 Bit. (?)
Mrcold1
I have Windows 7 32 Bit so i think play in 32 Bit. (?) Correct, so in your case, adding memory isn't going to help a bunch, maybe not at all.
bben46
Please don't waste your money on ram your computer cannot use. A 32 bit computer can only use a maximum of 4 Gig of memory no matter how much you put in it. Skyrim is a 32 bit game and can only use up to a maximum or 4 Gig of memory. HOWEVER, as the computer itself can only use 4Gig, part of the 4 gig ( about .7 Gig) will be used by other stuff that cannot be left out - such as the Windows and a few other programs it cannot run without. Leaving about 3.3 Gig MAX available for the game. As for whether that will make much of an improvement, your results may vary depending on other factors, such as your video card and CPU. For example, if you have an integrated Video card, that card uses a part of your system ram - so adding ram will probably improve performance. But if you have a separate video card - You probably won't see nearly as much improvement as a separate card has it's own memory built in and does not use much system ram. If you have a slow CPU, more ram will not speed it up. Before you order or buy any memory, please check to see exactly what kind you already have as there are many different kinds of Memory - and most are not compatible with each other. Most inexpensive motherboards used by the big name computer companies such as Dell & HP - only have 2 memory slots total - So if only one is being used, you can add ONE memory stick exactly like the original, OR remove the original stick to install 2 new identical sticks. If your computer has only One stick installed, and you have 2Gig of memory, then you should add ONE 2 Gig stick as close to the original as possible (preferably the same brand name and same model number.) Higher end motherboards may have 4 or more memory slots. And it can make a difference which slots you use if you don't fill all of them.
Razor444
Currently I have 2 GB RAM so I have to buy another 2 GB of RAM to 4GB so arrive? So even if I have 6GB of RAM for example Skyrim uses only 3.3 GB right? Ben i have 2 Slot for RAM, and i sue only 1 slot 2GB RAM, i want buy 4GB RAM for have 6 GB RAM. My processor is Intel® Core™2 CPU 4300 @ 1.80 GHz Edited May 16, 2012 by Razor444
bben46
You cannot use 6G Ram. Get another 2G stick and your system will be maxed out at 4G. No program or game on a 32 bit system like you have can use any more than that. The reason is it cannot see any more because the address space is limited to addressing 4G - which seemed like a lot a few years ago. Now, most newer motherboards can use 32 bit OR 64 bit Windows (You don't have that). The version of Windows you have is the 32 bit and can only use 4G. If you get a 64 bit computer AND 64 bit windows you can use a lot more ram, BUT Skyrim can still only see 4G max because it is a 32 bit program. However, you will gain another .7G for the game If you have more than 4G on a 64 bit system - that extra stuff that limits a 32 bit will be moved into the ram above the 4G. Then 6G would make sense. A 64 bit system can see Far more Ram than a 32 bit system - :cool:Here are some current limits for 64 bit win7 (these are windows limits and are nowhere near the possible max for a 64 bit)Win7 Home basic - 8G maxWin7 Home Premium - 16G maxWin7 Pro and up - 192G maxTheoretical max for 64 bit system - 2 to the 64th power or 16 exabytesHowever, current practical max is about 1000Gb (1Tb)
