im new, and having trouble with NMM

Im trying to install Interior Lighting Overhaul, but for some reason it wont activate. I tried downloading it through NMM, and it appears on my list, but nothing happens when i click the activate button. Then i removed it, downloaded it manually and drag/dropped it into NMM, now it apperas on my list again but still wont activate.
I had the same trouble with another mod, which then turned out that it needed a manual installation, but as far as i can tell the creator of Interior Lighting Overhaul suggests using NMM, so that can't be it.
Do you have any ideas as to how i can solve this?
