Favorite Follower/Companion With A Difference?

So who or what is your favorite Follower/Companion with a difference? Not counting Humans/Elves/Khajiits/Argonians, do you have a favored offsider and what's special about this offsider?

Mines a Snowy Sabre Cat....ring summoned....his the only companion I use now....His specialness: Brilliantly powerful Tank and distraction, perfect crowd control....lets my Dovahkin sneak without giving him away, jostling him or sticking that nose where it shouldn't be found....looking at you Barbos.... ...not too bad at mountain goating with my Dovahkin (rock jumping down cliff faces).....And is a real boon and life saver with 'Skyrim's Monster Mod', 'Lush Grasses' mod and 'Sounds of Skyrim' mod...the cat can see/hear them coming....Oh, and Dragons concentrate on the cat.

The cat does have his downsides too though...Things can get very crowded in tight spaces and it takes the cat forever to turn around or back out if things are tight...unlike Barbos though, the cat will try to get out of the way....if his really stuck yes the ring can come off for a moment, though the sounds this makes usually alerts any enemy that may be close by to your presence....Spriggans can take control of him (that one seems kinda hit and miss)....If he gets in the way of your sword and takes a few strikes, he will turn on you....Otherwise perfect...

I don't see why this is in the Spoiler section... This isn't even an option in an unmodded game.

The cat sounds cool, though. What mod is that?

The Mod: 'Summon Animal Pets" .... http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4034

As for the spoiler section, I figured in case anyone wanted defend the vanilla dog choices and debate their usefulness....

Yes, this belongs in the Spoiler section, bpestilence, and for exactly the same reason that Frosty mentioned. My favorite (and only) companion/follower is Meeko, the poor mutt who used to live with his master in "Meeko's Shack" until his master died of a disease which isn't fatal (at least to the Dovahkiin). I have a soft spot for lost animals and Meeko really needs a home.

Once you make him essential (with the console, of course), he's actually a very enjoyable follower. He doesn't seem to exhibit the annoying constant bumping that plagues so many other followers, and when I'm sneaking he generally keeps his distance -- totally unlike Barbas' obnoxious behavior. I think the next time I do that quest I'll kill that insufferable mutt, just to see what happens, even though I don't really want the hammer. Don't get me wrong. Barbas is a very valuable follower. He's invincible. Literally. He isn't even "essential", but is in godmode, and may be the only NPC in the game who is.

Meeko, though, with a mod installed that makes him quiet, is a joy to have around. I like him so much, in fact, I'm considering making my first Skyrim mod a Meeko Make-Over, complete with a more effective AI and a user-friendly way to interact with him and give him commands.

I have to admit, I avoid Meeko's cabin like the plague... ....I have a soft spot too and can't say 'no' if I run into him, so I try not to....I don't want to over power my Dovahkin by having two exceptional followers and well...I'm a cat person... :turned: ....and just love my blue eyed fluffy and fanged boy to bits....
