bigv32
I just downloaded this mod: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=16374 I played with it a bit and I noticed it had a lot of lag at points. I think the problem is that it is an "open" city and is loaded with the rest of the map. I want to test to see if "closing" it off would be a good way of reducing the lag. Basically, make this city like the default cities are and put it in its own cell. My question is how would I go about doing this in a general sense? Is it possible for me to duplicate the cells that it is in and then make them their own self contained cell? This is for my personal use only, but if I am successful and it does work, I am going to share it with the author. Thanks in advance.
dfac364
you could create a new world space with a low poly version of tamriel by making a copy of an exsisting one and put the city in that so if you get up high and look out you can still see the world just a crappy looking one that wont crash a weak system system
David Brasher
You would have to copy all the objects in the open city and paste them into the closed city. In some cases, you would have to worry about hooking up things like Reference IDs, parenting, scripting references, and worry about changing AI or scripting conditions. But these things would mainly be for if the city has a lot of quests, new dialog, and ornate AI packages. With the way the Elder Scrolls games work, you can't really duplicate an exterior cell. You have to duplicate a whole worldspace. You may have to copy all the objects in the city, and then re-sculpt and repaint the land to match up with it. (I suppose you could duplicate the Tamriel worldspace and modclean out everything but the city and its immediate vicinity, but I bet many computers would not be powerful enough to handle such a task without crashing.) dfac364
yeah what he said ^ lol except there are low poly versions of the mountains and surrounding areas just clik on world and than right click on the left side menu and make a new world space than you can set the parent world space to what ever you want it to be and it will project a low poly environment
bigv32
thanks for the answers. I will look at trying to duplicate the cells first and see if my comp can handle it. After that, we will see where I can go.
