Armor workbench crashing game.

I have been working through a lot of issues and this is the lastest. Every time I access an Armor bench the game crashes. I have downloaded a NUMBER of new armors and clothes and the related patches for Awkcr. Armorsmith extended and Crafting workbench. Wondering if anyone has experinced this and what did you do to solve it.

You partly gave you the answer yourself. Probably one of the armors downloaded recently.

 

Unfortunately, I don't know all of the armor/clothing mods in your load order. Also the outfits I had issues with myself aren't on your load order. So I can't point to a certain file.

 

What you can do: Go to the armor workbench, hover over the armor pieces shown there one by one. Try to remeber on which piece exactly the crash happens. Now uninstall and maybe reinstall the corresponding mod and see, if this fixes it.

 

If you can't nail down the "culprit" this way, all you can do is uninstall all the new armors you added recently and reinstall them one by one, until the CTD occurs again. This will show you the problem.

 

Before going thorugh this procedure, I'd reinstall armorsmith extended plus AWKCR and make sure it overwrites everything, if there are conflicting files. CTDs like this can occur because some parts of AE or AWKCR were overwritten with (mostly outdated) other versions. It's also possible, that some older AWKCR- or AE-patches simply don't work with the current versions of AE any more. MAybe you will have to live with not having AE integration for some armors..

Okay. thank you... it's happened with I was customizing my pip boy and rebuilding my minutemen glasses. I haven't had any problem building any of the clothes at the Chem station. the first couple times it didn't work I wasn't paying attention... blamed poor eli for everything. '

Glad you solved your issue! Just a little heads up on overwrites: Vortex (I'm using it myself) in fact has this options. It's just named differently. Vortex speaks of "conflicts" and shows this little lightning symbol (red for unsolved conflicts, green for solved ones). Technically, it's very similar to overwriting: By deciding which mod should "load after" the other, you basically tell Vortex to deploy (install) this mod's files (and not the other conflicting files). It isn't a physical "overwirte" (as with NMM - replacing one file with another of the same name), but the result is the same.

I'm having the same issue, and weirdly with one Profile in Vortex for my Frost Setup the Armour Workbenches work fine and don't crash the game. In my standard Fallout 4 profile, as soon as I try to use an Armour Workbench the game crashes and sometimes even looting Armour Items off corpses will crash the game. I have no idea what mod could be causing it and need some help maybe to find the offender. He is my current load order:

I would of course, combing through your mods and dependency rules. I would start with a core bunch of mods you know work and go from there... Also. Another life is a key tool. But there is no silver bullet for these things. I would alos fo research on the mods themselves and even suggest using papyrus to make patches.

@ducky: If you experience crashes at armor workbenches and when looting some armors, the most probable cause is an armor mod with missing (or corrupt) meshes.Maybe you can get a clue, if you go through the armor pieces at the workbench one by one. Remember the piece, which makes the game crash and reinstall (or if that doesn't help: uninstall) the mod, from which the armor piece comes.

 

Another way would be to compare the armor/clothing mods you have installed in your two profiles. For the beginning, consider anything installed in the working profile as "safe", focus on the mods you only have in your standard profile.

 

If that method doesn't work, disable your armor/clothing mods (maybe 10 at a time) and test. As soon as you don't see crashes any more, re-enable the mods you disabled last one by one, until you find the culprit.
