TitanHQ
I've looked around the Forums and Google but I have yet to find anyone who has a problem quite like mine. I recently re-installed Windows on my PC and didn't back up any of my Steam/Skyrim files. As such everything can be assumed to be up-to-date and squeaky clean. Since re-installing Skyrim (to the most up-to-date version on Steam) every time I press "New Game" the screen blacks out and moments later crashes to Desktop. Occasionally the loading screen will appear for a while before it crashes. I have noticed that when it crashes it is using all of the RAM and the TES:V process keeps on running in task manager. For reference my PC is as follows: Dell XPS 420Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.Windows Experience rating 5.5Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GhzNvidia GeForce GTX 4603GB DDR PC2-6400 (2x1GB, 2x512MB) Before the update I ran Skyrim on Ultra with a ton of mods and the 4GB workaround/mod and it ran smoothly so I know my system can run it fine. It just seems to be the latest update Steam downloaded on re-install that has killed it. I have heard there is a workaround however the file has been hidden so I can't even try it. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks,Titan.
TitanHQ
Update: I went into Steam and verified files. I believe it re-installed the TES:V exe. Went I booted Skyrim it checked my hardware and set everything to low. It seems to be running fine with these settings. Obviously somewhere something has been changed and Skyrim is now seriously misallocating memory and generally being a hog. With this in mind, any suggestions?
