been playing Oblivion for a while, but i noticed, it dose not fit my screen.

i can click the upper left corner and minimize the game, but the borders of the game are on the edge of the screen.

should i reduce my game Resolution, or leave it at 1440 by 900 like my monitor?

this is a major issue, as Oblivion tends to crash when i do this.

Is your monitor a wide screen? It might be a resolution problem.

Knock the game resolution down a touch to see if it works. Mine is running HD at 1024x768 (Custom Made)

I had that same problem, it installed the game on a WAAY too high resolution.

Are you running Oblivion in windowed mode? That's probably most of your problem. Also, minimizing it or Alt-Tabbing out of it will almost always result in a crash regardless of your resolution or how powerful your rig might be.

Run the game full screen. It doesn't have to be the same resolution as your monitors default, you can set it down to 1280x800 (still widescreen).

I can't remember if Oblivion lets you choose your refresh rate or not, but if it does, make sure you pick one that your rig can actually handle. Start at 60 and go up, don't just pick 75 just because that is what's on the sticker on back of your monitor. Just because your monitor can handle it, does not necessarily mean your rig can actually do it.

You can interact with your desktop while the game is in fullscreen? Do you have an instant messenger program running in the background?

I knew it was Xfire, but I did not want to call them out by name. It is technically compatible with Oblivion, but it causes way more problems than it's worth. You should turn it off to play Oblivion. There are ways to make it work that I will share if you like, but if you're a lock picker, you may not like it.

I have the same problem and I've figured out how to beat it 80% of the time. Don't alt tab out ctrl alt delete to bring up the task manager and hit switch to when oblivion is selected. It works almost everytime for me.
