caatalyst
Hello there,I've been playing Fallout for a few weeks now and I've been trying to set mods up. I seem to have gotten it running pretty stable now after installing and reinstalling certain mods. I still get the occasional crash when loading saves after death and everytime I use 'LOOT' to sort my load order it can mess up my UI mods. It for some reasons gets rid of the sub folders for certain items like 'chems'. I've posted my load order below and if anybody could offer me any advice I would be very grateful.I get quite a few errors in LOOT. IITM records mainly with DLCs and there are some mods that provide content for other mods such as better local damage works with other gun mods. The problem is i couldn't pick and choose which guns for it to support so I've had to install it for loads of extra guns i don't want. Hopefully this isn't a problem. and I cannot change the load order of some plugins for some reason in Nexus Manager. High Poly Faces and Hud Framework both don't have load numbers next to them and I cannot them or plugins around them. Algabar
The ITM records in the offical DLCs aren't really a problem. They SHOULD be cleaned as explained in this guide:https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=943456144 However, using these files as they are is okay for the moment. Just remember to do the cleaning some time in the future. These errors in the Bethesda files CAN cause errors and CTDs with some mods. That's rather unlikely though. So, read the guide, take your time, and clean those DLCs someday... BTW: DON'T clean ITMs or other "mistakes" in mod plugins, that are'nt from Bethesda. Sometimes, ITM records (and other things marked as errors by LOOT) are used on purpose, Removing them might break the mod... So at least check the mod's page and the comments section there before cleaning mods. Looking at your load order I found a mistake: You have several "Arbitration" files installed. These are optional. Use only the one you want and delete the others manually. Same goes for "live dismemberment". As for LOOT breaking your UI settings: You can define custom rules in LOOT, which tell the program to load one plugin after a certain other plugin. Instead of reordering your files manually each time you used LOOT, I'd recommend setting up rules. To open the rules menu, just click on the three dots next to the plugin's name (in the right pane). That you can't change the load order of "High poly Faces" and "HUD framework" is normal: AFAIK, both mods don't have a plugin file (.esp, .esl or .esm). Since you can only change the load order of plugin files, these mods won't appear in the "plugins" tab of NMM. Have fun!

The only problem regarding the UI mods is I'm not sure which ones should come first. I'm using Def_UI and the transitions + Hud Framework + Gold Kit for Colour Pipboy + Coloured thumbnails + val Sorting + Yatz Ui preset. I usually install them in that order (except val sorting at the start). I've followed the Hud framework guide (don't overwrite Def_UI and then use the batch file to overwrite the flash file. Then I install gold + colour. I will fix the points you suggested but just before I make the changes to the DLC errors, can I do this and still load an existing save or will it break it? Algabar
Unfortunately I don't know much about DEF_UI and especially Valdacils Item sorting. Always found it too much hassle for too little gain. :ermm: My only advice would be to look at the pages of the mods you want to install and also read through the sticky posts and maybe the comments. There you might find helpful information. Or maybe someone who knows DEF_UI better can give you detailed explanations. Sorry. I will fix the points you suggested but just before I make the changes to the DLC errors, can I do this and still load an existing save or will it break it? Removing mods during a playthrough is always a potential risk and therefore not recommended. That's the "official disclaimer". From my experience, Fallout 4 isn't that picky. In most cases you CAN remove smaller mods without any issues. If it is a mod containing scripts, you should check if there are special procedures for uninstalling the mod and follow them, if applicable. In addition to that, you can run your latest savegame through a save game cleaner like this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22633 There's a description on the main page. In addition to that: Only look for "unattached script instances" and only clean them - nothing else. Shouldn't be too big of a problem though in your case. Cleaning the master files definitely won't harm your save game. Removing "double" or "triple" plugins shouldn't be too bad either.
