jacquesmartel
Is the room upstairs the Archmage's bedroom the most stressing environment in everyone's game? http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/2007/oblivion200807201942239ij4.jpg Because on my system, E6600, 2Gb RAM, Radeon HD 4870, that room (pictured above) runs at 3-5 fps. The Imperial City Market District is also a pain in the arse, it runs at 15 fps unless I use streamline. I don't understand why the framerate drops in the cities whilst remaining high outdoors 50-60fps (at least on my system, coming from a geforce 8800gts 320Mb which also provided a better framerate outdoors than in the cities). There are instances, like watching the door of Benirus Manor, where the framerate drops dramatically, why would a door cause such a slowdown? Just wanted to know if someone else's got the same problem and if there's has a solution to it. Thanx. Mmmm... my Argonians (male and female) have no tail. I tried everything from double checking the meshes and textures, to editing the Argonian race with the Construction Set. My Khajits are OK though, so I think an issue with ring slots isn't the problem here. I don't have any Argonian mod.
Varus Torvyn
Don't know if this might be part of your situation, but I've discovered the game picks up in speed if you pare back the number of active mods, and if you don't have a lot of mods affecting the same area(s) of the game. Odd as this may sound, I actually noticed an improvement after load-ordering using FCOM Helper, followed by OBMM (to rewrite the hidden file plugins.txt). Possibly this had more to do with the lessening of mod conflicts through proper load-ordering.
thomasv333
Weird, I have the same GFX card except with 512Mb video RAM, with "QTP3 redimized & further reduced OMOD" (All textures installed, except outdoors landscape'y ones to improve outside performance) 3Gigs of ram and an AMD 64 2x 8000 processor (3GHz) and I have city FPS of 35-60 but outdoors its like 10-30FPS dropping to single digits when moving between cells. Any suggestions why similar systems would have completely opposite city vs wilderness FPS. Thanks
