Medium Armor-Discussion

Throughout my morrowind playing experience I have always felt something odd about the Medium armors, like they were kinda forgotten or something. They just seemed kinda lacking and what not. Other people throughout the net also seemed to have the same kinda opinion of the armor. This brought me to thinking of creating a mod to balance this problem among others I plan to take care of later.

 

Anyways, I went over to the UESPwiki and used there information to compute the armor rating / weight value, a good indication of the quality of the armor. doing this, I found out that Light has the best overall, Medium comes in second, and Heavy last. I went back to find out what was the cause of the strange oddity, and figured out the source of the problem.

 

First off, Medium armor is lacking in different types. Also Bonemold, orcish, and Indoril are the only ones that have a complete set. While Indoril does lack greaves, it's still fairly complete.

 

Secondly, the medium Cuirass, witch I based the comparisons off of since they are the main unit of armor, have mostly low armor ratings / weight for the common types. The Orcish and Indoril sets however, have higher ratings than wieght. Sadly, wearing Indoril armor is risky, particularly if someone like me forgets to take it off.

 

Anyways, I was thinking of creating a Mod to balance out some of the medium armor issues. Imperial chain is one of the main things I plan cleaning up, as the armor is pretty odd conisidering it's supposed to be a set. The pauldrons are heavy armor, and none of the armor ratings match. I wanted to go back and modify then all to become a set of sorts. I might even go and make a thing of Imperial chain boots (More like leather boots with some armor and chain tucked into them) and chain Gauntlets if I can figure out the whole modeling thing.

This would be nice. Seeing as Medium armor ends up having the lowest armor value in the end, and there are so many incomplete sets, it would be nice to have a complete set of Medium armor which doesn't make me wince at the armor value.
