innovacious
I reinstalled oblivion a few days back. Havnt had any major problems until today when i tried to do the main quest. As soon as i get the quest message "i have arrived at weynon priory blah blah blah" or whatever it says i cannot save. As soon as i save it will crash to desktop. I can save anytime before the message and nothing new loads after the message. At first i thought it was crashing when i entered the building but i have now found it does the same if i save or quick save (going inside caused an auto-save). It does actually save but the save files become corrupted. Any idea what could cause such a problem? Below is my mod load order, incase im loading anything in the wrong order and its screwing it up. Oh yeah, ive also heard of problems like this when you overwrite a save. Ive already tried saving new files instead and it still crashes.
Varus Torvyn
Can't tell much from that blurry thumbnail, except that you are in desperate need of load-ordering. Random's FCOM Helper utility will take care of that for you. If you choose to install it, please read the Description carefully - lots of good instruction. Run OBMM after FCOM Helper so the hidden file Plugins.txt is updated for Oblivion. A proper load-order sometimes does alleviate glitches; however, in your case, I would suggest not saving there. Play through until you're done with Weynon Priory, then do a hard save (vs. a quicksave). Edit - Rather than re-posting everything, please read what I posted here Load-Ordering This will help you out on FCOM Helper and a few other tips like the Unofficial Patches for Oblivion (if you are patched to 1.2.0416). Thanks, ill check that out. Also, you can click the thumbnail for the full size version. EDIT: hmm... it appears it was one or more of the unique landscape mods causing the problem. *Fixing* the load order actually made it worse and i couldnt save anywhere. I disabled the landscape mods though since they were the last ones i added and everythings fine now :| ill try and enable them again a bit further into the game and see what happens. I noticed you said "one or more." It might be a good idea for you to backtrack & dig into the Readme files for those landscape mods in order to discover if any are incompatible with each other. For myself, I decided to stay with the game's landscape and concentrated on adding quest-mods for character advancement plus extended gameplay.
