Ambient/Combat audio stutter... with a twist

Hello,

I am aware that the ambient/combat music stutter is a well known bug with a lot of ways that can solve it. In my case it is a little... weird.

After booting my notebook and launching the game it works perfectly fine- there are no sound bugs whatsoever. However, if I use my notebook for some time and launch the game, this bug occurs. It troubles me to no end- why after booting the computer everything is fine, and after a few hours poof- this bug happens.

But there is more.

I have similar problem with Company of Heroes game- if I play it right after booting, everything is fine. Few hours later machine gun sounds stutters just like in New Vegas... until I turn on Chrome Explorer. After running Chrome this sound bug is gone- sadly, it doesn't work for New Vegas.

Anyone has an idea what may cause these anomalies?

I am playing on MSI GE60 with Realtek HD audio drivers and Windows 10.

Sounds like you are running out of memory or "heap space". Most laptops use "system RAM" for everything: no dedicated VRAM for instance.

* The game has "memory leaks". Getting 2-3 hours before a CTD is pretty good. You might want to try using the tool "Memclean", which periodically (you can set the interval; default is every 15 minutes) tells the OS to perform it's built-in "clean up" of memory. It has a "mini-monitor" that displays memory usage. Doesn't seem to hurt and might help.

* If you are using the full 4GB of memory, most likely your CTD problem (now or in the future) is the default "heap size" is too small. It's so common you might as well deal with it now. Please see the 'Issue: CTD without warning, "Out of Memory error", or stops responding after the Main Menu') entry in the 'Solutions to "Crash To Desktop" (CTD) problems' section in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.

Make sure you aren't running any background processes that aren't essential. If you run the game in "offline mode", then you don't need your "anti-virus" software running either. The same applies to "print servers", etc. There are a number of free "Game Boost" products out there that will help you determine what isn't essential.
