krneki2
I've just installed Skyrim and while searching out for patches, found out this forum. After a while, I was convinced to install Skyboost and that's it. But I quickly realized that it doesn't support the newest patch, so I searched for other mods... however, there are sooo many of them that I really have absolutely no idea what to install. In STEP tutorial, there are hundreds recommendations, I'd probably need at least a few days to analyse and install them. Could anybody please shrink down this list and advice me what do I really need to install? I have notebook with c2d P8400 (2,26 GHz), 4 GB RAM and geforce 9650m GT, so first priority is max performance. Thank you!
David Brasher
You can do a lot of stuff by trial and error. Install the mod, and if it runs good keep it. If it lags your machine, remove it. If your computer is lagging, you might want to avoid mods that improve graphics, add tons of NPCs and add tons of clutter.
dfac364
your not going to be able to do much, my laptop is marginally better than that and even with skyboost i couldnt run anything but the simplest of mods, (adding small items, quests, ect..) krneki2
I'm mainly looking for optimization mods. Since Skyboost is not compatible with latest version of patch, I need as good alternative as possible. I'm sure many of you have tested a bunch of mods, so I'm still looking out for recommendations. Of course, low graphics settings are expected in best case scenario.
Rennn
There's a mod to remove all drawn shadows from the game. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10789 This should optimize textures and improve performance for a mild loss of texture quality.http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=12801 Both of those should greatly increase performance. They're not big hits on quality either, since Skyrim's shadows are so blocky on most settings anyway. I haven't personally tried either of those mods, but they're popular and often endorsed. Normally I would recommend a program such as Game Booster, but that's not going to be freeware for much longer. krneki2
So what do you say about combination of:- Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) Beta version (1.5.6 supporting runtime 1.5.26 and Papyrus, 05 May 2012)- Optimizer Textures by AdPipino- Colorful Lights - No Shadows - More FPS by TRoaches- Unofficial Skyrim Patch 1 0 BSA Version Would that be a good combination? Is it compatible? Should I use anything else? Thanks. Edited May 23, 2012 by krneki2
krneki2
I tried without mods, but it lagged very much on 1680x1050 and low settings. It's better with HIALGOBOOST, but it still stutters a bit when changing directions, fight, etc. Then I tried to optimize textures with "Optimizer Textures by AdPipino", but it didn't compress anything (Error: Unknown file). I also installed "Colorful Lights - No Shadows - More FPS by TRoaches" with Nexus Mod Manager, but it didn't remove any shadows, perhaps because of hialgoboost. I don't know what else to do. Can you help me out? Thanks.
dfac364
My link Try this for the ini files its what i used and its a pretty solid tutorial if your not sure what im talking about.Ive never used SKSE so i cant talk about that nor have i ever really trusted any of those performance graphics mods, but if the ini files dont help enough id recommend getting an FPS counter that you can bring up in game and try out any of the endorsed performance mods to build your own stack of what works for you.Sorry wish i could be more helpful
