Zeffenrir
So, I recently got back into Fallout and just discovered that if you complete Home Sweet Home for the raiders Preston hates you unless you wait to meet him until afterwards, in which case you can get him to give you the Open Season quest to win back his trust. I couldn't find a mod to change this, so I decided to try to make one myself even though I have almost no experience creating mods. My goal is to change the dialogue Preston gives you after you claim an outpost for the raiders to offer you the option to talk him into giving you Open Season like he will if he never met you. I've completed the dialogue trees so that everything works ingame, but I've run into a couple problems. Usually, the end of the dialogue leads to Preston giving you idle dialogue about not trusting you or wanting to talk to you no matter which option you choose. This is still an option in my mod, but he will no longer give the idle dialogue after choosing it, he just stands there silently no matter how much I click on him. Secondly, I can't figure out how to get the Open Season quest to trigger if I choose the option that leads to that dialogue. I tried just copying the code from the fragment that triggered it from the dialogue I was basing this from, but it wouldn't compile and I'm not sure how to write my own. I also ran into the same problem when trying to change Preston's affinity back from hatred. I tried to look through the Creation Kit wiki and watched a bunch of tutorials on it, but I couldn't find anything that explained these specific problems. If anyone knows how this could be done, or even just could point me in the right direction to find out for myself, I would be extremely grateful. tl;dr - I need help making a dialogue trigger a quest and change a companion's affinity, as well as triggering an idle dialogue state
