Companion and NPC accuracy

This is an old topic, some people say that companions can't hit anything with range weapons, others say that they do fine.

I think both might be right. The issue is strength, I think. Human companions have average strength and problems using weapons

with heavy recoil and long barrels. Give them a Combat Rifle, possibly with long barrel, and they just keep wasting ammunition. However,

they are doing great job with .45 Pipe Rifle. Well, up to level 15 or so, when enemies level up. Upgraded 10 mm pistol is good, too. Compensating

flash suppressors, grips and stocks help, too. They seem to be doing fine with Assault Rifles, even ones with long barrel, because of low recoil.

It seems that even clothes help. Army Fatigues, dirty and clean increase Strength by 1.

I think light receivers might recoil less, but never tried.

I have tried to increase perception with sunglasses (PER+1), but it doesn't seem to make much difference. They often fail to spot an enemy until

it is too late.

No.

NPC accuracy is controlled by an internal accuracy stat within their assigned combat style in Creation Kit. It is further modified by the cone of fire of the weapon they are using, and also by any relevant perks they possess. SPECIAL stats have no effect on NPC accuracy.

Coursers, with the exception of X6-88 (the worst courser in reality), are by far the most accurate NPCs in the game.
