QQuix
BLOCKOUT – by California Dreams I’ve searched the forums and didn’t find any reference to this amazing game that survived countless versions of Windows and many hardware architectures. It is a 3D version of Tetris, released in 1989 and works perfectly to date. Well . . . in 32-bit Windows, it does! I played it almost every day since I got it (18 year * 265 days =~6.500 days). I wouldn’t be surprised if I played more than 3.000 times (usually, just before going to bed – it takes 5 minutes). Bad news is that a few months ago I got a brand new PC and had to switch to a 64bit OS to be able to use all the 4Gb memory of my new PC. I wish I hadn’t. The extra memory didn’t help much and I lost my preferred game. If I had the time and patience, I would switch back to my old OS.I even started modding Oblivion for lack of what to do with my free time. lol Good news is that while writing this post, I went to check Wikipedia for the release date and found out that there are several open source versions of the game. Just downloaded one of them (BlockOut24) and the look and feel is identical. I suppose you won’t see any mods from me for the next several months. (If you have never heard of it, check the Wikipedia here)
