Distance is blurry?

Hi guys,

 

I'm not sure what could be causing this issue. I used LOOT to sort my plugins before posting this. I've also uninstalled the ENB I was using to see if that had anything to do with it. I'm not sure if it's an .ini tweak or if I just need to reinstall the game.

 

Any help is appreciated. :)

Looks like a DOF (Depth of Field) issue. I wouldn't completely reinstall because of this.

 

IMHO, you either didn't uninstall your ENB completely and still have some leftover files or there's something worng with the games's DOF settings.

 

What you could do:

1. Check if there's an "enbseries" folder or any files beginning with "enb...". in your Fallout 4 folder. If so, delete them. If in doubt, you can also "abuse" ENB manager as "uninstallation tool" for ENBs:

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9838. Simply run the program, choose "fallout 4" and hit the "remove" button. This will definitely clean up any leftovers from a previous ENB install.

 

2. Recreate your ini files. Make a backup of your existing .ini files, then move them out of their usual folder (standard is c:\documents\my games\fallout4). Now restart Fallout 4 through the Steam launcher. Since there aren't any ini files any more, the game will create new ones with standard settings. Now tweak your .ini files with "BethINI", Bilago's "Fallout 4 Configuration Tool" or - if you prefer that - manually.

 

If 1. and 2. don't work, go to the steam library-->Fallout 4-->properties and let Steam "verify game cache". If that still doesn't solve the issue, it's time to check your graphics related mods.

It's likely there's some remnants of the ENB files still residing in your Fallout4 install, looking through your load order you don't appear to have a dof mod (like Dynavision from Gopher, for example)

Easiest way to ensure that everything ENB-related is removed is to use this exceedingly handy little tool - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5347

It's a simple .bat file that you place in your Steam/Steamapps/Common/Fallout4 folder (also works for Reshade/SweetFX folders) Double click it and it'll remove everything. If that doesn't fix it, then it must something else?

Recreating the .ini files fixed it. I must have tweaked something at some point and it screwed things up. Oops.
