Mator Smash?

I thought I would take a look at this program to use instead of Wrye Bash. The only problem is I could not find a comprehensive guide for it except on You Tube. I do not want to go into a rant about so many guides only being on video which is extremely difficult to understand for those of us who are hearing impaired, or damn near deaf to put it bluntly.

When I ran the program, from the instructions I got a very simple operation, I got different colored esp's. I do not know what to do with the red and black esp files. Do I just ignore them, do I exclude them from the patch, do I include them in the patch, what exactly does a red esp mean? What does an esp in bold mean?

If anyone knows of a written guide to Mator Smash I would appreciate if they could point me to it.

Unfortunately I don't know any comprehensive written guides. I'd love to have a manual, too. BTW, the video guide by GamerPoets doesn't explain the colors either...

So, here's what i concluded from my (limited) experience with Mator Smash:

1. On the first screen, when you get to see all the plugins, rightclick in the window, select "check all". I'd recommend including indeed everything into the smashed patch - unless you got specific reasons why you don't want a certain file to be part of the patch.

As for the colors:

I assume that red means "required as a master file, but not checked". AFAIK, with files marked in red, Mator Smash won't proceed to create a patch. Solution: Either also uncheck the files depending on this master file - or check the file marked in red.

Green means: Necessary master is there, everything okay.

Dark red probably means: This file depends on a master file, that isn't checked. This must be solved, too, since there is also a file marked in red somewhere. And red means "no patch".

Don't know about "black": For me, black seems to be the standard color for checked plugins.

2. Once you're through the file selection screen, basic usage is quite straightforward. No need to tinker with any settings or options. Simply hit the green circle with the wihite arrow (start button) in the top left corner. Give Mator Smash some minutes (yes, it can take that long, if you got a large load order). After the program is finished, simplay close it. Depending on your mod manager, you may have to activate the "smashed patch".

That's basically it. OFC, do some testing, check if your smashed patch really works.

Please remember: A "smashed patch" basically does the same thing as a SSEEdit "merged patch" or a "bashed patch" by Wrye Bash. Use only one of these patches.

Thank you for your reply.

I did use this with SSE. Ignoring the different colors and just Smashing everything and starting from scratch with a new profile. I am at level 12 with this profile and so far no problems or CTDs at all. I have 89 mods and 111 plugins with this profile which is about average for me with SSE, usually have 15 or 20 more mods with oldrim; so not a real heavy mod load.

I think I will play this profile up to lvl50 or so and if I have no problems will start to use Mator Smash with my other games that it is applicable to use. Although I might play around with it on different profiles for a while first. I am one of those people who are constantly starting new games anyway so it is no problem.

Once again appreciate your replying.
