tungol
I really like the idea of alternate beginnings, But I haven't tried one yet. So I'm wondering, which do y'all reccommend? Also, the real problem with them doesn't seem so much to be the main quest start, but Kvatch. Do any start with an intact Kvatch?
Aerin Morth
Do you want an intact Kvatch? Or are you just wondering about it? I don't know of any that have an intact Kvatch, but I use a very good alternate start mod. Lemme go find it, then I'll put the link into this post. EDIT: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11495 There's the link. It's a really nice mod that allows some nice character customization for roleplay aspects. You don't have to go through the sewers at the start, and you have a set of 0weight clothes. I haven't used any of the others floating around yet, but I don't believe any can start with an intact Kvatch without messing up the main quest. I think it would be pretty cool to see pre-doom Kvatch, but I don't think it is possible. Then again I'm no modder. Maybe some folks could look into this? ironman2
A pre-doom Kvatch might be possible to mod using the character that meets you on the road screaming that the city has been destroyed.Getting the city in place at the game start would be the hard bit,but if I or anyone could do that ,then the screaming character [forget his name] might be used to trigger the city to be destroyed [back to normal game start conditions].Another problem would be,that if you reach the city without meeting him the main quest would be broken. Will work on it to see what I can come up with.Joe[ironman2]Owens. tungol
<snip>EDIT: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11495There's the link. It's a really nice mod that allows some nice character customization for roleplay aspects. That's exactly the one I was looking at. I noticed the "final update" was just released, and thought I'd give it a try. So with your good word, I believe I shall. But the problem with those alternate starts is that you've got a major city destroyed as the second attack in a war that hasn't had a first attack yet. I imagine myself running all around it pretending it's not really ashes--I just don't feel like visiting the only other city in Cyrodiil with an arena. <snip> I haven't checked out the details, but I'm sure it should be possible to disable the camp, its NPC's, and the screamer until you've got the amulet of kings. (Disabling all the "the emperor's dead" talk might be hard). But you could just stick a door in front of the real door to Kvatch, that would lead to the intact Kvatch world. If you wanted it to look good, you could put a gate or something down away from the burnt areas, so they'd be included in your intact Kvatch world too (and thus not burned). You'd have to do some landscaping to keep people from circumventing that gate, though. Then when the MQ starts, a script disables your gate and enables the camp & the screamer, etc.My scripting/quest-making experience is quite weak, but it sounds possible in principle. Ah, if only I weren't so lazy, I'd give it a try. Maybe this weekend. Right now I think I'll go take that alternate start mod for a spin.
